Game Thread: Boston Red Sox @ New York Yankees 4/12

Get your popcorn, get your sodas, get your ear plugs and grab your Twitter app having phone because it is ESPN Sunday Night Baseball and it's the New York Yankees and the Boston Red Sox. Popcorn is great and Coke is better but the ear plugs are for John Kruk and the ESPN crew because you should expect a ton of injury talk about the Yankees starter tonight, Masahiro Tanaka. Tanaka will be on the mound after a less than stellar Opening Day start against the Toronto Blue Jays that did nothing to quell the doubters on his elbow's health. Opposing Tanaka tonight will be Clay Buchholz for the Red Sox so hide your laptops everyone. The game will be played at 8:05 pm ET and can be seen on ESPN as a part of ESPN's Sunday Night Baseball.

The Yankees head to Camden Yards after this series to face off with the Baltimore Orioles so get your Yankees tickets for that series, the next Yankees home series or any series right here on the blog through our partnership with Ticket Monster. TM doesn't charge you those annoying fees or bulky shipping costs just to email you a paper copy of the ticket, the way it should be, and keeps the prices even lower if you're a Greedy Pinstripes reader. If you can't make it or would rather pay $10 for a 12 pack of beer instead of for one feel free to join us on Twitter (@GreedyStripes) or in the comments section to chat during the game.

It's going to be a long game, and a frustrating game to listen to, but that can all be made better if the Yankees win the game... so go Yankees!!

  1. Well, it looks like the Yankees and Tank can't live with a 7 run lead. Tank is throwing like a guy that doesn't know what the hell he is doing. And the defence is showing why they lead the league in errors. What makes Tank think he can pitch down all night and not get hit hard?
I don't think Tank has the trust in his elbow that he needs, to cut it loose and pitch as he has shown he can.

    1. He is healthy or he wouldn't be throwing breaking stuff. It's def. a trust thing, almost has to be

  3. A MUST WIN ?...No, not at this time. But, at 14 to something, in the ninth inning tonight....
It is the big hug, and the band aid win that they need. They've been awful.
So lets move on...it's too early to pull the chair out from under these guys.

I'm listening to Bruce Springsteen, live in Barcelona....what a talent, what magic.
    Talk Monday. Shalom.

    1. Gotta get the first one to start a winning streak. I'll take it and take the confidence

  4. I think we can safely say that Cashman's experiment SO FAR with superior defense is not working. Didi is nothing special from what I have seen so far and Drew well what can I say positively about him... Chase Headley is suppose to be a pretty decent fielder and that hasn't been the case as of yet. Guy's if you read this property I have made points as to so far and as of yet.

    1. No one can argue with that Hans, this defense has been terrible, especially Didi

    2. I stated when the trade was made for Didi that I didn't like it. I thought they had the same player on the roster already in Brendan Ryan. A week hitter with a good glove. As of now Didi is wearing his glove on his hand like Michael Jackson did...for no apparent reason

    3. To be fair though it's only been a week. You may be right, and FYI the Michael Jackson reference was classic and i loved it, but you have to give the guy more than six games before you rub it in our faces. A lot can change. Before last night the Yankees were a struggling offensive team with no signs of light at the end of the tunnel.

    4. Agreed its an early sample and by know means am I pounding my chest just yet. As far as last night goes there is an old saying...even a blind squirrel finds an acorn every once and a while. I believed when this team was assembled that it was a third at best or 4th place team and I'm sticking by it, but like you said it is early so I will wait till the AS break when they are 15 games out to declare victory!!

    6. No need to worry about buying a drink Daniel, The bugs are mostly gone from the team as of now. In a week or so the "D" will shine, as expected!
