This Day In Yankees History 4/15

On this day in 1976 the "new" Yankees Stadium opened its doors after being rebuilt from top to bottom including the fences, the seats, the roof, and the grandstand. Bob Shawkey, who would win the first game in the original Yankees Stadium in 1923, threw out the ceremonial first pitch to open the new stadium. The new stadium would sell out its first game with 52,613 Yankees tickets sold for the game as the Yankees beat the Minnesota  Twins 11-4.
