This Day In New York Yankees History 8/10

On this day in 1986 the Yankees retired jersey #1 on Billy Martin day in a pregame ceremony at Yankees Stadium. The Yankees also gave Billy a plaque in Monument Park and honored him by saying "there has never been a greater competitor."
