Can't Predict Baseball: Worst Shutout Ever!?!

On this day in 1915 Babe Ruth hit his first career home run at the Polo Grounds as a member of the Boston Red Sox off Yankees pitcher Jack "Crab" Warhop. Ruth would hit home run number two a mere two weeks later off the same Yankees pitcher.

On this day in 1962 Jim Bouton makes his first major league start and blanks the Washington Senators 8-0 at Yankee Stadium. The 22 year old right hander was nearly removed from the game when 11 of his first 12 pitches in the first inning were called balls. Bouton gave up seven hits and seven walks in what he described as "the worst shutout in the history of the game."
