Classic Player A vs. Player B Comparison NYY Style

This was done before yesterday's game so the numbers will be a little different but you get the general gist of it. Player A is one player on the New York Yankees that everyone on twitter, around the Yankees blogosphere, and the sports media considers to be "awesome" and Player B is a player that everyone in the world says "sucks" and is done. Interesting..

Player A:
Year Tm G PA AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI SB CS BB SO BA OBP SLG OPS OPS+
2014 NYY 23 103 92 5 23 3 0 0 6 0 0 9 20 .250 .324 .283 .606 71

Player B:
Year Tm G PA AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI SB CS BB SO BA OBP SLG OPS OPS+
2014 NYY 24 94 81 13 19 3 1 0 4 4 0 11 18 .235 .323 .296 .619 74

As you can see the two players are very similar overall.

Advantages go to Player A in hits, RBI's, and batting average. Awesome
Advantages go to Player B in runs scores, triples, stolen bases, walks, strike outs, OBP, SLG, OPS, and OPS+. Sucks

Player A is Derek Jeter
Player B is Brian Roberts

Let that sink in for a minute Yankees family. I know it's May but if that works for a 40 year old Derek Jeter who is coming off of multiple injuries then it should work for 36 year old Brian Roberts who is coming off of multiple freak injuries. Patience Yankees fans, that's all that I ask.

  1. Roberts is 36 not 26...I know, a type-oh>
    Derek Jeter .250 .324 .283 .606
    Yangervis Solarte .284 .382 .420 .803
The young and the older player. One on the way up (we hope) and one on the way out!
Just a comment but; the word on Solarte was his glove work was not up to big league standers, but...He isn't bad at all...not a Gold Glover but ok, so far!

  2. Thank you for catching that. He is most definitely 36, not 26.

Solarte has done well with the glove, everywhere

    1. Solarte is really working to stay in the line-up. I don't expect him to be hitting in the .300's but even at .285/.290 is good enough. I do have a caveat with him though, is the league catching up to him or will/can he adjust? That is the question.
Solarte and Anna have done very well when they have the chance to play every day.

    2. You asked for Patience, well...I have the patience of Jobe but, the question to be answered is...does the team have it.
I was very pissed on the inside the park HR. Beltran should have been taken out of that game, right then and there. His play in right field has been a FUBAR if I have ever seen one. Not just today, but in other games as well. It is unacceptable for a Yankee to play that way, I don't care who he is.
He wanted to be a Yankee, he had better start playing like one, or sit!
Ichiro can take his place for a few games and do as well if not better! Or put Soriano in right (has he ever played right before?) and have Beltran as the DH.

    3. Yes I wondered to myself where the hell Beltran was on that play... no where to be found. No sense in that.
