It's the weekend and I have been asked to post an open thread to comment in all weekend long. You ask and you shall receive. Go crazy, talk about anything and have fun. Enjoy your weekend, I am personally taking the boys to Legoland tomorrow. I don't know who is more excited, me or them. Enjoy and have at it.

  1. LEGOLAND ?....Never knew there was such a place.
I suspect Legoland would confuse the hell out of Kenneth....dem dar duh dang legos !

Anyway, Daniel is off to Florida with his squadron, and no ones in charge. Hmmmm?
We could sneak in beers ? or girly movies ? or just continue on our journey to ST.

What ever we do, and I fear this, lets try not to turn this site into a mortuary.
I'll give you a few right now.

  2. SUNDAY !!!!...February 1, 2015, all roads lead to Long Beach, New York.

Polar Bear Sunday. The horn goes off at 1PM, then charge along with thousands of others
into the North Atlantic. Meet King Neptune, meet a bunch of lost souls, meet girls who
forgot to wear swimsuits, meet yours truly. I'll even hand you a towel !

    Can't make it ?
That evening, bring up You Tube, type in ...' Long Beach, NY Polar Bears 2015.'
You find me...I'm the one being given... ' last rites '...by a priest.

  3. YOAN MONCADA....not to rain on y'alls parade ( that's how Daniel speaks )...
But, if the Yankees give Moncada a $40MM bonus, they get taxed 100%.
Yes indeed. That turns into a $80MM hit. They still will do it ? Should they ? Or, bat Drew lead-off ?

No mortuary for me. Theirs my first three cards, your turn.

    1. $80 million sounds like a ton in 2015 but when you can't spend more than $300K on a guy in 2016 and 2017 you may as well spread that out across three seasons and turn it into $26 million and change.

Plus I have never, and will never, conform to the slang, terminology and accents down here. Not now, not ever.

  4. Daniel....Go Away !!
You said you left a thread, and we could do as we wished. A trick !
What are y'all doin' hare ?....Yeah sure, you don't speak like that.

    1. You can do as you wish whether I am here or not. I even let you talk about Cuba and their cigars, which probably mix well with Coors Light.

Mount your mutiny, bring your Twasps and your Hans's's's's. I'll be at Legoland tomorrow for much of the day. Don't worry though, I'm always watching.

    3. Come on little p, you comment when you've had a few sissy beers and heckle others when we don't comment! There have been several lengthy discussions where you have been MIA.

  5. Just because smart people do stupid things, doesn't mean I need to cut them slack! If little p wants to turn his outie into an innie, that's on him. But I'm digging this open thread Daniel. Before the nights over, I'm going to go on a couple different rants and see what I stir up. (Captain Morgan fueled of course) Also, can't wait until tomorrow to start butting heads with a fellow "prospect humper."

    1. You can thank Mr. Reed for the idea of the open threads, I believe anyway. I look forward to the discussion and the debates. I love prospects month so much, believe it or not, I already have the entire month typed out on my computer and a lot of it saved as a draft on the site. I love this month.

    2. JUMPIN' JEFF L............
Saw your post, where you could not wait to stat bumping heads w / prospect humper.
      Strange term ?
So where did you go ? Too much Capt. Morgan ? Are you in rehab ? Hauled off
to the drunk tank by, stop and frisk, Irish cops ?....You vanished !

Here I am...silly old catholic patrick, drinking his girly beer. ( And, enjoying it.)
The first wave of Irish priests, from the 1840's, used that term ' prospect humper.'
Maybe they were addressing a different subject ?

Today, I survived the cold, dark gray, Atlantic. Just me, and my outie. No easy task.
And where is Jumpin' Jeff ?

    3. Much like the way Rick James was famously quoted as saying "cocaine is a hell of a drug" Jeff is picking himself up off the floor in a pool of his own drool saying "Captain Morgan is a hell of a drink." Lol I kid, Jeff.

  6. Not too much Captain for me. (Unfortunately) For some reason, I had problems opening this thread up this weekend. But as promised, I will offer up my rants one at a time. First, is all these prospect lists. I understand every list is different because everybody has a different opinion, but can anybody have much respect for the lists put up by the morons over at mlb.com? First, they put up a top 10 by position. In those lists, you had Severino at #7, Bird at #3, Refsnyder at #7, Sanchez as a "next up", and absolutely no mention of Judge. Then they come out with their top 100. Severino was #23. No mention of Bird, Sanchez, or Refsnyder. But Judge, who didn't even get mentioned in the top 10 by position, gets put into the top 100 at #68. Do "experts" really just make this up as they go along?

    1. Reed had problems and I think little p did too. No idea why unless you had it bookmarked. When it changes days it changes URL's.

The only explanation for Judge is maybe he was the 11-20th outfielder on the Top 100 and that's why he came in at #68? Maybe 1-10 came in somewhere between 1-67, you know what I am trying to say?

  7. Second rant is everybody beating the drum for James Shields. Am I the only one that sees this as the next bad Yankee contract? First, the "Big Game" nonsense. He had one good postseason in 2008. 2010, 2011, and 2014 he was horrible! 2014 was really bad. Clearly a result of a 33 year old pitcher being at the end of his chain. Don't you think there's a reason that 30 teams aren't interested in coming anywhere close to his ridiculous asking price? If you want 200 innings out of someone, I suggest a combination of Whitley, Mitchell, and Severino. Stay away "Big NAME James"!

    1. I don't think anyone wants Shields unless it's on a short term deal, one or two years. Three tops although that's too many in my eyes.
