Weekly Check In on Jacob Lindgren

Jacob Lindgren was taken in the 2014 MLB First Year Player’s Draft by the New York Yankees in the second round, the Yankees first overall pick in the draft, and seems to be standing on the doorstep to the major leagues. I have seen many sites keep track of one or a few Yankees prospects weekly, bi-weekly and daily so I figured we would do the same. Starting today and hopefully every Friday from now one we will update you statistically on what Mr. Lindgren is up to whether he is in Scranton with the RailRiders or in the Bronx where he belongs.

Today we start with Lindgren’s Spring Training stats as the young lefty vies for one of the last two remaining bullpen slots in the Yankees bullpen. Lindgren makes my Opening Day roster but I am a self-professed prospect humper and Joe Girardi, self-professed or not, is not. It remains to be seen whether these stats will warrant him a spot on the roster on April 6th when the Yankees face off with the Toronto Blue Jays but with stats like these it’s going to be hard to keep him down for long.

G: 7
IP: 6.1
Saves: 1
ERA: 0.00
K: 9
BB: 2
WHIP: 0.947
W/L: 1-0

  1. You can forget Lindgren, he is going to AAA for sure. How dare you contemplate him going North! He needs more work on his slider, didn't you know? Stats in spring training don't count unless, you happen to be a veteran player...like Drew, check that, make it the back of his card! LOL

    1. That 0.00 ERA and all his peripherals really show a need to go down to AAA and work on things. What the hell was I thinking.

    3. Chase Whitley, now that he has been brought to my attention, is kicking ass and taking names as well. Not even being mentioned in the 5th starter discussion.

    4. Yes, I saw that and thanked him for bringing it to our attention! Chase, the forgotten man!
After reading that we had forgotten Chase I went around the blogs...NO body has him mentioned at all!
What is going on with everyone? Only one guy mentioned him and it wasn't you or I! The good thing is, it was one of our better commenters, do you remember who it was? Jeff or Bryan?

    5. Well Mr. Reed, it seems I'm the forgotten man and not Mr. Whitley! Are my words that meaningless to you, or are you just getting old and forgetful? LOL!

    6. Names are something I have had trouble with my many moons on this earth.
I have too many floating around in my head as it is...for other reasons, but I don't forget good thinking ever...only the names! lol

    1. I appreciate the offer Patrick. But I've already had my recommended daily amount of water. I've finished the honey do list and am now enjoying some Captain and Coke!

    2. When Refsnyder is given a realistic shot at a job I'll get excited. I stopped getting excited about Refsnyder's spring when the team announced Stephen Drew had locked up the second base job basically before taking an at bat.

    3. That Daniel is what I call a "Cluster F-ck!", that is one of the things I have always had a problem with, playing a "Black Whole" in the place of a good young player.

    4. REED / GUILTY....on two counts. Again.
First..'a black whole'...as in whole wheat bread ? Or, did you mean 'a black hole?'
Secondly...why disguise the phrase...'cluster f-ck'?..That was your safe house version?
The west side of New York's school system, did little for you.

  4. IS IT ONLY ME ?....But does another here, sense that there will be a player added
to this roster before they break camp ?
    I say, yes.

    1. I think it's just you. The Yankees does have a free spot on their 40 man roster but I don't think they have the cajones to do it.

  5. Throw me a life ring !........
I need a Greedy up-date, from one of you guys.
Kenny is not eligible, because as he says..."I ain't got no larnins"?....No kidding.

Question...Andrew Bailey. His status with the team / sent down / released ? Thanks.

    1. Bailey still with the team and is on a minor league deal I believe. He won't be released or anything like that.

The team doesn't want to rush him so they won't put him in the pen on Opening day but he is the first guy on the depth chart

  6. THANK YOU....southern man.
Ebola has hit your site again. Either that, or the Greedy players are recharging / rebooting, after
a long winter....and then swimming through seaweed...AKA...spring training.
