Starlin Castro Joins Derek Jeter’s “The Players Tribune”

From a former New York Yankee to a current New York Yankee two players have joined up to deliver a message through the popular website The Players Tribune. Derek Jeter, former Yankees legend and All-Star, began the Players Tribune after his retirement in 2014 and gave sports athletes a format to express their feelings, write letters to their younger selves and gave the athletes a place to talk without their words being misconstrued or taken out of context. Jeter basically turned every willing and able athlete into a blogger like myself including one of the newest members of the New York Yankees, Starlin Castro. Castro took to the Tribune to tell the fans of the Chicago Cubs and the city of Chicago “Thank You” and we bring you that article here, originally SEEN HERE. Enjoy!

  1. It's a nice piece. I'm just not sure why Castro is constantly in the limelight after this trade.

More so than other players, I really hope he transitions well. It is a tough and not easily forgiving place... unless you play well.

    1. You have that right Spade.
Many fans wanted Refsy to get a chance at 2nd base so, we know how the fans can get on a player that is not home growen and blocking one of our own.
What is your thoughts on Refsy being worked out at 3rd, 2nd and RF this year at AAA (IF still here after the smoke clears)? This is one way to get his bat in the Big Time.

    2. Spade,

I don't get it either. Same thing happened with Didi last year but he was replacing Jeter, Castro is replacing Stephen Drew.

He is a young and at one time a big time talent. Plus things are slow news wise so we have to take one sentence he says and turn it into an article because we are bored.

  2. Ken, I would very much like that. I thought he should get some time in Rf last year, but think time at 3rd and rf would benefit the player and the team. Versatility is huge, and I'd really really like to keep him in pinstripes. But in the case of injury or poor performances in the bronx, he needs to be called up and not jerked around.

But ya, I've heard so much about the "thank you, chicago", and I'm not sure why. Is this common? I get apology to fans like Ryan Braun, arod,Andy pettitte, and the retirement stuff, but this, Im not sure.

But I'm here for baseball, not hemmingway :D

    1. Not really, although we have had a few players like Beltran that where happy to come here!
You must remember at the time a few players were really happy about coming to the Yankees...there was no internet, more or less. Thus, the difference.
IF Castro makes it and does well, I hope they either trade Refsy or make him into a 3rd baseman this year. Other than playing 3rd base for all his life(?) Headley has nothing over Refsy except being a switch hitter.
      We shall see!
