Game Preview: New York Yankees @ Baltimore Orioles 7/11

In the fourth and final game of this four-game set this week in Baltimore the Orioles will play host once again to the New York Yankees. Happy Sonny Gray Day. I’m sorry but for some reason I just feel confident about this start, I can’t put my finger on it as to why, but I do. In the start tonight the Yankees will send Sonny Gray to the mound to face off with Dylan Bundy for the Orioles. Let’s get to it here in Baltimore.

Gray has lost three straight starts which has lead Yankees pitching coach Larry Rothschild to work with the right-hander on his mechanics in between starts. Over his last three starts against the Rays, Red Sox and Blue Jays the Yankees righty has allowed 15 runs and 19 hits in 11 innings pitched combined for an astronomical 12.27 ERA.

Bundy will make his second start since coming off the disabled list tonight after allowing six runs in 3.3 innings against the Minnesota Twins in his first start. Prior to heading to the DL the Orioles right-hander was 3-0 with a 1.98 ERA in four June starts.

The game will be played at 7:05 pm ET inside Oriole Park and Camden Yards and can be seen on the YES Network. You can also follow along with the game on MLB TV, with the MLB At-Bat app, and by tuning into the Yankees radio broadcast on WFAN with John Sterling and Suzyn Waldman.

Enjoy the game, leave Buck Showalter with a box of Kleenex for his tears, and go Yankees!!

Game Thread: New York Yankees vs. Baltimore Orioles 6/9

Friday night baseball here in the Bronx, now that is my idea of how you kick start a weekend. Tonight the New York Yankees and Yankee Stadium will play host to their American League East Division rivals the Baltimore Orioles. What will Buck Showalter complain about this time? Your guess is as good as mine. Tonight in the opener of the three-game set the Yankees will send Jordan Montgomery to the mound to square off with Dylan Bundy which should be a good pitching matchup. The game will have a bit of an odd start time at 7:35 pm ET inside Yankee Stadium and can be seen on the YES Network, MLB Network, MASN and MLB TV. You can also follow along in your cars and on the radio with the WFAN broadcast.

Game Preview: New York Yankees vs. Baltimore Orioles 6/9

The New York Yankees spent the week renewing a rivalry with the Boston Red Sox but you have to wonder if the Yankees true rival lately is even the Red Sox or if it is their opponents for the weekend, the Baltimore Orioles. I mean I don’t have any fancy stats or examples to back up a mere question and observation, I’m just asking. Are the Baltimore Orioles more of a rival than the Red Sox right now? I mean aside from the Alex Rodriguez and Jason Varitek scuffle from forever ago when have we seen these two not be just business as usual for the most part? Oh yeah, when Ryan Dumpster took four tries to INTENTIONALLY hit Alex Rodriguez. Sorry, couldn’t pass that up and no that isn’t a typo. He’s a dumpster. Anyway, on to tonight’s game.

Montgomery was much better in his last start throwing six shutout innings against the Toronto Blue Jays inside the Rogers Centre. Montgomery allowed just three hits in the start which was a breath of fresh air after his last start. The last time Montgomery faced the Orioles the lefty allowed three runs, one of them earned though, in just 4.1 innings. That was the shortest outing of his short MLB career.

Bundy, speaking of shortest starts of the season, heads into tonight’s start fresh off the shortest start of his season last time out. Bundy lasted just five innings in his last start against the Red Sox allowing two runs on four hits. That doesn’t sound like a terrible stat line but Bundy was at 100+ pitches when he left the game after just five innings.

The game will be played at 7:35 pm ET inside Yankee Stadium and can be seen on the YES Network, MLB Network, MASN if you’re in the Baltimore/Washington D.C. area and MLB TV wherever you and your device are. You can also tune into the WFAN broadcast in your cars and on the radio to listen to John Sterling and Suzyn Waldman.

Enjoy the game, screw the birds and as always… Go Yankees!

Game Thread: New York Yankees @ Baltimore Orioles 9/2

Here we go again ladies and gentleman as the Baltimore Orioles play host to the New York Yankees inside one of the most beautiful parks in all of Major League Baseball. These two teams are in a dog fight now only in their division but in the Wild Card chase in the American League as well so every pitch, every inning and every game is more important than the last. No pressure guys as the Yankees send Chad Green to the mound to square off against the Orioles starter Dylan Bundy. The game will be played at 7:05 pm ET inside Oriole Park and Camden Yards and can be seen on the YES Network locally and MLB TV wherever you are.

You are running out of time this season to snag some Yankees Tickets and see the team live as they push for the postseason so don’t wait and click the Yankees Tickets link now at the top of the blog to secure your spot in the Bronx today. Green vs. Bundy in the most important game of the season for both teams. Until tomorrow. Go Yankees!

Game Preview: New York Yankees @ Baltimore Orioles 9/2

The New York Yankees are about to kick off the biggest and most important series of the season, until the next series of course, with the Baltimore Orioles tonight inside Oriole Park and Camden Yards. This series is important for a lot of reasons but the main reason is that this is one of the many teams the Yankees are chasing in both the AL East Division race but one of the teams they are chasing in the 2nd Wild Card race in the American League as well. I spoke on this earlier in the week but we’re getting to the point where simply winning series may not be mathematically feasible and the Yankees may need to start sweeping these head-to-head series if they want to make the postseason. That starts tonight as the Yankees send Chad Green to the mound to lead the charge against Dylan Bundy for the Orioles.

Green will face off with the Orioles again after notching a no-decision against this team in his last start in the Bronx. Green gave up three home runs in the start including two to Chris Davis while holding the Orioles to four runs and seven hits in an eventual Yankees victory. Thank goodness for offense.

Bundy also faced the Yankees in his last start and took a loss in the start after allowing five runs on seven hits including one home run. Walks hurt Bundy in the start as he allowed three free base runners to reach for the Yankees which resulted in the right-hander lasting just four innings in the loss.

The game will be played at 7:05 pm ET inside Oriole Park and Camden yards and can be seen on the YES Network and MLB TV. The biggest game of the Yankees 2016 season happens tonight and it happens against one of the team’s biggest and most bitter rivals. The biggest game of the season, until tomorrow of course. Go Yankees!

Game Thread: New York Yankees vs. Baltimore Orioles 8/27

Here we go ladies and gentleman with some afternoon baseball here in the Bronx between the New York Yankees and the Baltimore Orioles. You know what could possibly be the best part about these day games after night games lately? It could be the fact that the Yankees have infused so much youth into the team that we are no longer stuck seeing our best hitters and fielders on the bench in the day game because they played the night before. Youth can handle it and youth is here so now we just need Joe Girardi to use them. In the middle game of this three-game weekend set the Yankees will send Chad Green to the mound looking for his third consecutive strong start while the Baltimore Orioles will counter with a young gun of their own in Dylan Bundy. The game will be played at 1:05 pm ET inside Yankee Stadium and can be seen on the YES Network, MLB Network and MLB TV.

The Yankees play host to these same Orioles tomorrow in the Bronx in the finale of the series and if you want to be there, be there for David Ortiz’s final game inside Yankee Stadium or want to see the Yankees live in any game left this season click the Yankees Tickets link at the top of the blog. Root on the Yankees and support the blog while saving a little money. Almost sounds too good to be true.

Game Preview: New York Yankees vs. Baltimore Orioles 8/27

The New York Yankees and the Baltimore Orioles are at it again today with the second game of their all-important three-game set this weekend in the Bronx. These games between Buck Showalter’s fighting Baltimore Orioles and Joe Girardi’s suddenly youthful New York Yankees are always entertaining because Buck still seems to have a chip on his shoulder when it comes to the Yankees. Call it gamesmanship or simply call it a lack of a respect for his former club but for some reason he has it out for this team and wants to beat them in the worst possible way each and every time out. Nothing wrong with that, that’s what Baltimore is paying him to do, I just think the grudge is silly that’s all. He won’t let it go so neither will I. Anyway, the Yankees will send Chad Green to the mound today to square off with Dylan Bundy for the Orioles. Should be another good one.

Green is the second part of the Yankees new one-two punch of Luis Cessa and Chad Green and Green has been absolutely brilliant in his last couple of starts. Green has made short work of tough offenses like the Toronto Blue Jays and has made Brian Cashman look like a competent GM and not the idiot that some claim that he is after trading away Justin Wilson for the duo this winter.

Bundy bounced back from the worst start of his young MLB career last time out against the Washington Nationals who he held to just two runs in six innings of work. The month of August has been good to Bundy overall as he has posted a 4-1 record with a 3.10 ERA in five starts. His final August start comes this afternoon in the Bronx.

The game will be played at 1:05 pm ET inside Yankee Stadium and can be seen on the YES Network, MLB Network and MLB TV. As we also saw yesterday in a separate post that showcased the remaining schedules and their strength of schedules in the Wild Card chase the Yankees need these games. Every game they have left with a team they are chasing they either need to win the series or preferably sweep if they want a chance at the postseason play-in game for the second consecutive year. Losing series is not an option at this point unless you want to be playing golf in October. I don’t want to write about you playing golf in October so let’s get it done. Go Yankees!
