It's not official, but word is that Cody Eppley has been designated for assignment. This will create room for Preston Claiborne to be added to the 40-Man roster.
Although his ERA at Scranton/Wilkes-Barre looks good at 2.89 so far this season, Cody's been getting hit around quite a bit. In 9.1 innings he's given up 13 hits, including three doubles and a home run. Eppley's strikeout rate, which is 10.3 K/9 during his time in the minors, is currently at 8.7.
That's not to say Cody Eppley stinks, as he did pitch well for the Yankees in 2012 (125 ERA+ in 46 innings of work). But if he's lost to another team, instead of returning like David Adams did after he was DFA'd, I won't lose any sleep.
