This Day In Yankees History 5/12

On this day in 1956 Andy Carey broke up Orioles rookie Don Ferrarese's no hitter bid at Yankees Stadium. Andy Carey would single to lead off the 9th inning to break up the no hit bid but the Yankees would lose the game 1-0.

  1. I was at that game. That was also the day Carl Erskine no-hit the NY Giants. Both games were on television. The Giant game was on Channel 9-the Dodgers station. The Yankees game was on Channel 11. Imagine trying to watch both games without a remote control.
I was 12 years old and have been trying for years to verify my recollection. I was right about Ferrarese being the pitcher. Thanks
