This Day In New York Yankees History 7/17

On this day in 1941 Joe DiMaggio's 56 game hit streak was snapped in a game against the Cleveland Indians. After this game he will hit in another 17 straight games to hit safely in 73 of his last 74 games. This is a record that will never be broken for as long as we live in my opinion.

On this day in 1987 Don Mattingly became the first player in American League history to hit a home run in seven consecutive games.
