Mariano Rivera Will Not Play This Weekend

Mariano Rivera has been pitching with a sore arm and has said that he will not play this weekend in Houston as the Yankees travel to play the Astros. Mariano will not be pitching and will not be playing center field this season, his finale in Yankees Stadium on Thursday is the last time we will see Mariano Rivera on a mound. I think it is fitting that Mariano's career ends the way it did, good bye Mo. Just as a side note if his arm is sore and he is pitching the way he has I cannot imagine how good it would be if he were 100%. Goodbye Mo!

  1. TWASP bets that the Yankee Brass leaked the $300m Cano number. Same thing they did with Jeter and Damon etc:

painting the player as being greedy. TWASP dislike CashMan tactics.

  2. Well I like Greedy, hence the Greedy Pinstripes, but it is not like the shoe has never been on the other foot. Free agents for the last 20 years or so use the Yankees to drive up the price. We could have Mark Teixeira and Albert Pujols on the team and when a big time first basemen comes on the market the Yankees are always "mildly interested."

Its the new school of free agency and of baseball, the business side of it. With media and twitter and such the players and the agents use everything they can to squeeze every dollar out of a team. The team has to had an equalizer.

  3. fair point.....but when the "squeezing" involves attacking a players play or portraying him unfairly .....in my mind ....you are going over the line. what cashman said about Jeter during negotiations were uncalled for and classless. and now hes starting again with Cano rumors.

    1. well Brian Cashman is a classless and gutless human being, ask his wife and his mistress. Shouldn't really surprise you that he is pulling this kind of crap.

    2. Yeah Daniel, it doesn't surprise the WASP that CashMan would sink to such levels.....it pisses the WASP off. And the WASP does not like to be pissed off.

  5. Really good stat on Mattingly......

    Kudos, Daniel.

  6. Mattingly had a relatively short window where he was a pure HR hitter. Early on he was a slap hitter but later on learned how to rotate and pull HRs . this unfortunately didnt last long as his back problems returned his game to more of a slap all field hitter.

Still... 6 grands slams in one season and never in another......neat stat.
