Keeping Up With Roster Changes

While updating the Roster page today, for what seems like the 800th time, I decided to take a look at all of the Yankees transactions. It was getting tiresome editing it nearly every day, so I wanted to see if I had a legit gripe or if I was just being a whiny brat. Here's the list...

  • April 26 - Signed RHP Chris Leroux and selected him from Scranton/Wilkes-Barre (IL). Optioned RHP Shane Greene to Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Released LHP Nik Turley.
When it comes to making player moves, the Yankees have been the busiest in the month of April (tied with the Texas Rangers). They have already placed five of the original 25 members of the Active Roster on the disabled list (two of them to the 60-day).

But don't let the number of player moves fool you into thinking they've been hit the hardest by injuries. There are actually seven teams in MLB that have had it worse when it comes to injuries. Five teams have placed six players on the DL (Braves, Orioles, White Sox, Angels, and Nationals), while the Padres have had to DL seven guys, and the beat up Rangers have put 11 guys on the disabled list.

That's not to say the Yankees have had it easy, but things could be worse.

So am I innocent or guilty when it comes to being a whiny brat? Well, I think I have a bit of a gripe, but I'm just happy this isn't a Texas Rangers blog (although the Rangers...and A's... do have the best record in the American League).
