8/4 Yankees Game Preview vs Detroit Tigers

The New York Yankees and the Detroit Tigers will start a four game series this week at Yankee Stadium after the Yankees had a bit of trouble with two struggling teams recently in the Texas Rangers and the Boston Red Sox. The Yankees will send Brandon McCarthy to the mound to face off with the Tigers ace Max Scherzer. The game will be played at 7:05 pm ET and can be seen on the YES Network, ESPN, MLB TV, and can be heard on the radio with John Sterling and Suzyn Waldman on WFAN.

McCarthy is 3-0 in his last three starts for New York with a 3.00 ERA and 17 strikeouts in 18 innings for the Yankees. McCarthy has definitely solidified the Yankees starting rotation since coming over and has arguably been their best pitcher since coming over the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Scherzer is on a hot streak with a 5-0 record with a 2.08 ERA in his last seven starts including throwing seven innings and only allowing one run last time out against the Chicago White Sox.

Get your tickets for tonight's game and get a Yankees back to school set if you're one of the first 18,000 fans 14 and under. You can also get tickets to see Max Scherzer tonight, David Price tomorrow, or Justin Verlander Wednesday night at the stadium in what should be a frustrating and tough series for New York. Get your tickets now.

Go Yankees!!

  1. Headley plays a legendary type defense at 3B, from what I've seen, I'd be reluctant to move him. I'd play McCann at first and Cervelli behind the plate. Better yet, I'd go with JR Murphy in place of Cervelli.

    1. The problem with that logjam is the Yankees don't have an obvious person they can move to have Cervelli and Murphy on the same roster. Cervelli is out of options and no one is going down or getting DFA'd unless it's Ichiro. That would likely bring up Zoilo Almonte anyway.

    2. Who said Cervelli and Murphy on the same roster? Cervelli, Suzuki and Ryan should had been traded at the dead line for any pitcher or ball girl.

    3. Cervelli is a pretty good offensive catcher. Not that Murphy isn't but Murphy fetches you more in a trade, makes more sense to trade him. If we didn't have McCann for the next half a century then you trade Cervelli...

  2. Catchers that frame the pitches help the pitchers in a hugh fashion. McCann just catches them where thrown.

    1. McCann is said to be one of the best catchers at framing pitchers in the league... not sure where this is coming from.

  3. Really? I saw some close pitches that could had gone for a strike and the pitch count is too High. I didn't see great framing.

    1. Well I am basing his work off his entire career, not one night against a tough team with a good lineup.

  4. Let's take Scherzer to his customery porch!

  5. There you Go, hugh error at 3B. High pitch count now and man at second. Critical Point. Beware pitch count.

  6. Thank you error, get the pen a call. I doubt he makes it out the next inning, maybe even this one. Critical error.

    1. Right at 100 pitches, he may go out for the 6th but I doubt it.

  7. McCan't with the porch, big disappointment for an organization deep in catching talent. Wasted money, seems like. JR Murphy, Romine and Sanchez right about now would had been interesting. I'm disappointed with McCan't.

  8. Why wait for a problem to remove him?

  9. Would had been nice to have Banuelos and/or Lindgren for the 7th. I'd throw them out there consecutively on short leashes looking to give the pen a break and shot in the arm. What the heck, we have Ryan and Cervelli.

  10. If needed, I certainly hope Tex can pinch hit for Suzuki in the 9th.

  11. McCan hasn't been a disappointment at all Mr. Rivas. I want you to use the tool on our blog that allows you to search for posts and search for Brian McCann. There will be a post (I would do it but work has everything blocked) that is titled Brian McCann has been everything we paid for or something to that effect. Give it a read... and get back to me.
