World Series Game One Open Thread

The New York Mets have had five days off and have made the trip to Missouri to face off with the Kansas City Royals in the 2015 World Series. After the American League won the 2015 All-Star Game this season the AL earned home-field advantage in the series meaning four of the potential seven games in this series will be played inside KC's Kauffman Stadium. The first game of those potential seven games comes in just about an hour on FOX.

Here's your thread for the night, World Series Game One thread. Enjoy and Go Royals.. I guess.

  1. MY TEAM IS NOT IN THE WORLD SERIES...no one is crying in my house.

It was impossible for the Yankees to be there anyway. Deep inside, we all knew it.

So classmates, lets get our erasers out, and scrub away the chaff. We need to
open roster spots, and eliminate time bombs.

These are my thoughts, and they will be my mantra till the darkest, coldest days of February.
I need not comment on each one, but some do need a explanation of sorts.

    1) Michael Pinada...He is getting worse, not better. There was a reason for the axle grease
on his neck. Move him while other teams are still in awe of..'Big Mike'.
    2) Evon Nova...Best days behind him. That arm can fall off at any point.
    3) John Ryan Murphy...Sanchez is ready. Murphy's value is high, salary low.
    4) Brendon Ryan...nice guy, but...
    5) Dustin Ackley...2064 ML at bats = .244 avg. Just like Ryan, no offense.
    6) Chris Young...A younger player needs his bench spot.
    7) Jacoby Ellsbury...Lord, if you can move him to the Cubs...I may go back to church.
Another nice guy, but his act is getting stale, and hurt.
    8) Bret Gardner...The toughest one. Love this guy. But he is another mediocre offensive player,
who can not live up to his speed hype. His value is high, or sort of.
    9) patrick...Because I said I would not comment on every one.

Ever year lately, a team that is mired in muck, corrects itself in the off season, and goes
on to better things. I believe it is our turn.

      A) I think he has some wins in that arm but, IF we could get something good for him...ok!
      2) Evon Nova...Best days behind him. That arm can fall off at any point.
      A) The same goes for him!
      3) John Ryan Murphy...Sanchez is ready. Murphy's value is high, salary low.
      A) Keep JR, he is a very good game caller and is a bit better on defense!
      4) Brendon Ryan...nice guy, but...
      A) A keeper, only because we need a guy that can play 3rd, 2nd and SS.
      5) Dustin Ackley...2064 ML at bats = .244 Avg. Just like Ryan, no offense.
      A) Dustin I think can be replaced with Pirela.
      6) Chris Young...A younger player needs his bench spot.
      A) Replaced with any one of a few OFer's.
      7) Jacoby Ellsbury...Lord, if you can move him to the Cubs...I may go back to church.
Another nice guy but his act is getting stale and hurt.
      A) As CF players are not heavy hitters we Have; Mason Williams, Slade, Ben Gamel and a few others.
      8) Bret Gardner...The toughest one. Love this guy. But he is another mediocre offensive player,
who can not live up to his speed hype. His value is high, or sort of.
      A) here is the place we need to fill from outside, IF possible...heavy hitter.
      9) Patrick...Because I said I would not comment on every one.
      A) Not a chance!

CC needs to go into the BP and make room for some of the other guys, or retire!
We need to have Beltran at DH-with A-Rod more this lets Judge (not ready for prime time yet) move up when ready.
NEEDS; One #1 or #2 starter, one heavy hitter in the OF, Someone that can steal bases (Rico Noel? but can he hit?) IF Refsnyder can't hack it at 2nd base bring up Abiatal Avelino or Tyler Wade.
One guy I want to get a chance is Jose Pirela as the utility Player.

That's one for the books, it only took me 3 hours to type it. If I had more time I would have looked into some of these players much closer but...So be it!

    2. patrick,

If you can move those nine contracts (if because Ellsbury and patrick have no-trade clauses) you make room for a ton of talent on the club. Plenty of money off the books and plenty of young talent to call up or be acquired.

It's unlikely we see a total rehaul like that but I would agree with sending off any and all of them in the right deal.

    3. Reed,

Noel can't hit. Not at all. Couldn't even hit .200 in the minor leagues this season. He's a stolen base guy for September, that's it.

    4. That is why I said, "Can he hit", but If I remember wasn't there a team (The Royals) that had a guy that only stole bases name of Washington(?)?

  2. Kenneth....almost ready to head upstairs, and call it a day.
I'm smiling.....we are 'almost' on the same page. Amazing.
    Stay well.

  3. SMOKE ON THE WATERS.....Sonny Gray, Oakland, RH Pitcher.
Chopped this out of today's New York Post.

"....Sonny Gray, the young righty is so talented, this is the one place the Yankees should think of investing big prospects and exhausting the possibility. Mateo is likely to be a consensus top-20 prospect next year, and the Yankees believe he can be moved from shortstop and be a Jose Altuve-like impact second baseman by 2017. Judge also will be in the top 20, and Gary Sanchez likely in the top 50.

The Yankees at least have to consider putting two together to front a package for Gray. In that scenario, you have Gray and Severino as anchors, and if health and full production ever come from Eovaldi, Pineda and Tanaka, the rotation is awesome."

    You never know.

    1. If one of the two is Sanchez then I can get behind that. Don't find his talent on the free agent market often, if ever. Mateo and Judge is too much though. Mateo and Sanchez is ideal.

Gray is the ace the Yankees have been lacking.

    2. I think the deal has to be Sanchez and someone but Mateo or Judge?
I understand Judge has the "Potential" to be an awesome bat but, has a lot of holes in his swing and has trouble with the breaking ball.
Mateo is a five-tool player...Speed, glove, good arm, bat and baseball instincts...some power, not a lot yet.
We do have Abiatal Avelino for 2nd/SS and he is a Mateo clone, almost! The thing is, this pitcher better be very good if they are willing to trade him. Heavy hitters need guys on base and Mateo will steal maybe 40-60 bases.

I will step out on the ledge and trade Sanchez and Judge but, only because we need to be strong up the middle; Catcher, Pitcher, 2nd, SS, CF. We have a guy in Ben Gamel that has been hitting the cover off the ball for RF, LF, CF...IF this wasn't a once in a lifetime year for him that is.

    3. Mateo is light years ahead of Avelino. Avelino also doesn't have the pure speed that Mateo has. I wouldn't call him a clone. Similar, sure.

Ben Gamel is probably trade bait as he needs a 40 man roster spot and we already have like 9-10 (exaggerating) Gamel's already on the team.

  4. Sonny Gray...pitcher.
I watch, read, and attempt to learn.....
The player Sonny Gray, and his size...5'10"..if all is true, pertaining to him......Do I see a similar
potential David Cone, or Don Sutton ?
If smarter minds than mine say yes, then go for it.

Pitching is a big area to be addressed. You do not get quality for nothing.

    1. I've never seen the David Cone comparisons but maybe. When I started watching Cone soon had his aneurysm surgery and his velocity and stuff was not as high as it used to be. I was too young to see him in a Mets uniform.
