Game Preview: New York Yankees vs. Baltimore Orioles 7/18

The New York Yankees are not squaring off with the teams they are chasing in the American League East. The Yankees just finished off another series loss with the Boston Red Sox and now stay home for the next four games to play host to the Baltimore Orioles. New York will send Ivan Nova to the mound for his first start of the second half while the Orioles will counter with Kevin Gausman in the opener.

Nova is looking for a better second half than his first half as he strides towards his first free agency in his MLB career. In Nova's last nine starts the right put up a 3-4 record with a 6.34 ERA including one start against these Orioles where he allowed five runs and seven hits in a loss on June 4th.

Gausman was pushed back from his start yesterday to make his start tonight against the Yankees because of his career numbers. Gausman put up a 1-6 record with a 4.15 ERA in the first half but he has historically owned the Yankees leading Buck Showalter to make the move.

The game will be played at 7:05 pm ET inside Yankee Stadium and can be seen on the YES Network and MLB TV. Isn't it juts like Buck Showalter to purposely skip a guy on Sunday knowing that he would be able to make the start on Monday against the New York Yankees? Someone is still bitter about being fired and he takes it out on this team every chance he gets whether New York is on top of the division or simply trying to stay afloat at the bottom. Oh well Buck, you have to live with the anger and hatred that stays with you. Not me. Go Yankees!
