This Day In New York Yankees History 9/8

On this day in 1925 Babe Ruth belted his 300th home run of his career, conveniently against the Boston Red Sox, in a 7-4 Yankees victory.

On this day in 2007 Alex Rodriguez blasted his 50th and 51st home run of the season joining Babe Ruth, who did it four times, Roger Maris, who hit 61 home runs in 1961, and Mickey Mantle, who did it twice, as the fourth player in Yankees history to hit 50 home runs in a season. Alex also broke the major league record for home runs as a third basemen in this game passing Adrian Beltre and Mike Schmidt's record of 49 home runs in a season.
