Watch The Obstruction Call From Last Night's World Series

Here is the controversial, but correct, call from last night's Game 3 of the World Series that cost the Boston Red Sox the game. Just as a reminder the intent does not have to be there for it to be obstruction. Will Middlebrooks was in the baseline and obstructed Allen Craig from running home. Without the trip, again inadvertent or not, Craig probably scores easily anyway. Long story short Boston fans suck it up because with or without the trip you lost the game and home field advantage.

  1. Two things...

What an AMAZING play by Dustin Pedroia. Really potentially saved the game.

Salty had to eat that ball. I appreciate being aggressive and wanting to make a play but even if Middlebrooks doesn't trip Craig he is safe on the throw and Boston loses anyway. You don't want to make the last our at third base but you don't want to throw away the game at third base either, especially with two outs and your best pitcher on the mound.

Anyway Game 4 is on tonight on FOX

  3. Middlebrooks didnt have to kick up his legs like he did . He cheated. watch it in slow motion he knew exactly what he was doing.

TWASP would like to personally shave each Red Sox with a dull blade.

    1. Just being in the way of his progress, without tripping him, would have gotten the same results. Awarded the next base...same score either way. That one is in the book!
The shaving part you did good on...agree!

  4. Daniel....what Yankee said this about Marian Rivera?

: "As great as he is, and it's amazing what he does, if you start the evaluation again since I've been here, he has accomplished nothing in comparison to what he accomplished the four years before. He blew the World Series in '01. He lost the Boston series. He didn't lose it himself, but we had a chance to win in the ninth and sweep them and he doesn't do it there. . . . That's what I remember about the '04 series."

    2. he was just stating the facts

    3. He didnt blow the 2001 World Series. Mo may have blown the lead in Game 7, sure that's a fact, but Mo had nothing to do with the fact that the Yankees got blown out in games 1 and game 2. Mo pitched multiple innings in game three I believe it was to preserve the tie and eventually get the Yankees the win. He was set up to go a consecutive day of multiple innings before the Mr. November home run.

It is foolish, petty, and downright ignorant to remember one inning from the 2001 World Series and blame the series loss on Mo.

  5. Daniel......you are missing the point again. Its not about one man losing a series. Of course its a team effort. We are talking about Mariano and only Mariano. Did he do his job ans save the game or did he not do his job and blow the game. We are talking about the notion of invincability that has been hyped up. But the facts are he did blow some strategic games. keep it in context and you will better understand what Mussina was trying to say and admittedly did a poor job saying it.

    1. No I think you are missing the point, Mussina's quote was "He blew the World Series in '01." and he didnt. My point, and the point I am not missing, is he blew Game 7... he did not blow the series because the series is over in 5 if it were not for him. You are the one being blinded by your dislike or agenda or whatever adjective that you want to use with Mariano Rivera.

    2. TWASP loves Mo. Mussina admittedly did not say what he wanted to correctly. Mussina knows one man does not win or lose a series. What he was trying to say is Mo did not do his job flawlessly a number of critical times and yet if you were a casual fan and just listened to the hype you may come away with the idea he never dropped the ball.
