Cementing That Corey Hart Is A Better Option In RF

So this week we looked at Phil Hughes and his home run problem, Brian McCann not hitting any more home runs in Yankee Stadium, and Carlos Beltran truly benefiting from the change to New York but what about Corey Hart? As many of you know I personally would want to take the chance on Hart because he has had identical stats to Beltran over the last two or three seasons, both have knee concerns, and Hart would come for less years and a whole lot less money. Hart can also play first base and give Mark Teixeira a day or two off a week where Beltran would be stuck to right field or the designated hitter spot. I had to use 2012 stats to go with Hart since he missed the entire 2013 season with multiple knee surgeries but the stats remain the same, Hart would actually benefit more from the change from Miller Park to Yankee Stadium then Beltran would.

Information found using Katron.org

As always the dark blue dots are home runs and we would see zero difference in his home run numbers. The light blue dots are Hart's doubles and as you can see two doubles definitely turn into home runs in New York while there are another seven or eight that has legit shots at going out in New York with that wind and the humidity. Add another three home runs that would have been fly outs in Milwaukee and another six more that have real shots at going out we could see as many as 20 more home runs for a healthy Corey Hart in Yankees pinstripes then his 2012 season in Milwaukee. Let's all remember that Hart hit 30 home runs... scary when healthy and a huge low risk high reward signing.

*this was written before we signed Jacoby Ellsbury but since the Yankees still are "interested" in Shin Soo Choo and there is always a Brett Gardner trade possibility I felt compelled to still post this*

  1. I wished the Yanks signed Hart early on to a 1 year deal. It would have given them more flexibility, and leverage with Choo, Ellsbury, Beltran...a top tier pitcher or two...negotiations with Cano... The Ellsbury deal may handcuff the Yanks in signing Cano, a top tier pitcher and still meet the budget goal of $189M. We really need top tier pitching in the rotation. Look at the rotation qualities of the Ray's, Red Soxs, A's, Tigers.

    1. They still can and actually I think it is more likely now. They can sign a RFer and make Soriano the full time DH for lack of a better word. They also have Sori and Ichiro as a insurance policy for an oft injured Hart.

    2. I can go with that scenario, Daniel but with a caveat...Cut Itchy and Wells. Those guys are redundant and non-productive, Sori and Zoilo can back up the OF just fine.

    3. That works too, especially since Wells is essentially a free player. I doubt it happens though since Wells is the only right handed bat, even if he does suck, and Ichiro brings in the Japan crowd.

  2. I feel compelled to post this also.
Corey Hart...is a fine fit. My first choice. No longer an outfielder, but a fine fit. Fingers crossed.

What started out as a failed piece of humor, now has gravitas.
We will lose Granderson, I'm sure. Here are two guys that match his weakness, and his strength.
They are both available, and aside from Hart, will put fear into a opposing pitcher.
    a...Curtis Graderson '12...684 AB..195..K's...43 HR.
    b...Adam Dunn ( Big Donkey ) '12...649 AB..222..K's...41 HR.
    c...Nelson Cruz '12...585 AB..140..K's...24 HR.
    Want a bench player/ DH ?

    * I do not think Cano will fly 6 hours away to Seattle....the pond is too small.

    1. Dunn would definitely fdill the void in the DH spot but I think I may rather have Nelson Cruz only because he is right handed...

but I really want Hart for RF and Sori as DH..

  3. THE PUZZLE.....the winter meetings. Fear not.
I see Bret Gardner being traded w/ Sanchez...for a pitcher. Or, third base.
Beltran, Hart, Cruz...will still be in the mix.
I love Dunn. The Yankees always have scary mashers. So he strikes out !
Dunn, in Boston.....our version of Big Papi. ( on steroids )... Why not ?

    2. I too, want Brett to stay, he has 2-4 good years left to play.
I have been a big fan of his since 2006, I saw him hit a triple that wasn't even a close play at 3rd.
He was walking about as many times as he struck out, which I liked...very spot on arm but, not strong.
The (so-called) experts EJ, Sickels and Schults were all picking him to be a 4th to 6th OF. What a Joke. One of the reasons Jeter has batted 2nd all these years is because of guys like Brett, Rivers, Rains and Henderson he has made a living hitting fastballs.
Brett and Ells' can change the way teams have to play the Yankees, IF they run them Back to Back.
If Jeter has to hit #2 (because he is Jeter) then lead-off with Ells' and have Brett at #9, Ells' has more Pop.
I would rather see Ells' lead-off and Brett get all those fastballs or, the other way around. One is as good as another.

  4. THE AGENT ?....reports out of Seattle say....Mariners CEO, Lincoln, 'exploded' last night
when Cano's, agent JZ, asked for 10 years...52 million at the last moment.

That may work on the sidewalk, with a crackhead. But, not in the real world.
Cano.....you fool. Ditch this pusher, and deal with the Yankees yourself.
    Agent ? No.
Enjoy the flight back. I'm sure ebonics will be spoken there.
