Don't Call Him JR

I just went ahead and updated our Roster, Payroll, and Twitter Account pages. Not because the Yankees signed Stephen Drew, not because the Yankees decided to give Brett Gardner a contract extension, and not because Kelly Johnson joined Twitter (at least I can't find it).

The reason I had to update those pages is because "JR Murphy" now wants to go by "John Ryan Murphy". The team is listing Murphy that way on their spring training roster, and the nameplate above his locker also reads that way.

By the way, he doesn't want to go by "John Murphy" or "Ryan Murph", it's "John Ryan Murphy".

  1. JOHN, OR JOHNNY....that's his name. That's what his mother, and father called him.
He'll answer to that, and probably always has answered to....John.
If this is true, then John should be more concerned about other things. Like improving.

Take down that primadonna's nameplate, and put up...John Murphy.
    He'll get over it.

  2. I'm not sure his nameplate or locker at major league camp matters too much. Barring any injuries, I'd say he has zero chance of breaking camp with the big club. I would actually be surprised if he is still with us at the trade deadline. Too much of a logjam. Either him or Bromine is on borrowed time.

    1. Agreed with him breaking camp with AAA, not with us. The thing is Romine is the better candidate to trade since Murphy can use a little more seasoning in AAA. The latter is that Murphy has more trade value. Catch 22. I can see them both being traded by seasons end if the right deal comes up clearing the way for Sanchez. If Cervelli or McCann went down then we may be in trouble though.
