Sabathia good enough as Yanks take rubber game from Blue Jays

CC Sabathia gave up 4 earned runs in 6 innings and Adam Warren, Shawn Kelley, and David Robertson each threw scoreless frames of relief today as the Yankess won the rubber game of this weekend series over the Blue Jays, 6-4. Through 5.2 innings this afternoon, Sabathia was dealing, retiring 17 of 18 while striking out 6, but before he got his last out the Jays pushed him around a little, collecting 4 hits and three runs before Brett Lawrie flew out to end the rally.

Anyway, the Yankees offense really came to life in this one, scoring three runs in both and the first and the fourth thanks to an RBI Groundout from Jacoby Ellsbury, a 2-Run Double from Kelly Johnson, an RBI Double from Yangervis Solarte, and a 2-Run Home Run from Brett Gardner, the team's first of the season.

Besides them, Derek Jeter and Alfonso Soriano also contributed to this victory, as Jeter went 2-for-5 to move into eighth on the all-time hits list and Soriano went 1-for-3 with an HBP and a run.

  1. ESCAPE FROM BEAN TOWN......not really an escape, I love that town. And no, not all Bostonians
wear horns. But, my grand children wear the Sox caps....backwards !
The salmon was great, the cold Coors, even better.
Found myself behind the green monster on Friday. The place was rockin' , while I was locked in
    Boston traffic.
Looked for Ernie at the ' Black Rose '...Irish saloon, in the old Commons area. No Ernie. But the rear
ends on those young women there.......Jesus. I'm getting older.

Yankees won 6-4, on the drive back. Made the drive easy. I repeat again, this staring staff is good.
So is Warren, and the bull pen. Where is Grant Balfour ?

Good to be back. My two snipers , from Yankee Fans Unite, remain an enigma. Two great guys
who are in a funk.....Boys ! ...how old are each of you ?

Hope all of you, are well. Home opener tomorrow, and beach weather can't be far behind. Talk later.

    1. Welcome back Patrick. Glad you had a good time behind enemy lines. You didn't miss much, the girls are still fighting.

  2. Daniel...Thank you, sir. The term...' girls '...is appropriate.
' Old girls '.... is probably more correct. They have become worse, as time moves on.
Let them hash it out. They have worn me out.
    Talk soon.

    1. I have moved past it as well. As long as they aren't fighting on the blog I don't care, they can hash it out at bingo.

  3. Put down your coffee before you read this one. For it may be sprayed all over the table, or your girl friend.
This from the NY media, which leans towards the Mets, big time.
" The NY Yankees should trade hard throwing Delin Betances, to the Mets, for first baseman Ike Davis."

Yes, .227, Ike Davis. I'm surprise they didn't ask for Solarte, also.
Now you can finish your coffee.

    1. I read that and it reminded me why I got into this game. Whoever suggested that trade is an idiot.
