Can't Predict Baseball: Ted Williams Goes Above .400
On this day in 1937 future Hall of Famer Mickey Cochrane's career ends after he is beaned by Yankees pitcher Bump Hadley. The Tigers catcher would spend six weeks in the hospital only to return later as a manager, not as a player.
On this day in 1941 Ted Williams goes 4-5 against the New York Yankees in Yankee Stadium to raise his batting average over .400 for the first time this season. Williams would finish the 1941 season batting .406.
