Greedy Pinstripes Top 28 Prospects List: #13

Prospects Month is in full swing and we're already up to our 13th best prospect in the farm system, Miguel Andujar. I think Andujar has a lot of growing to do and a lot of maturing to do but if he puts it all together he could be pretty special.

Here is the write up from Kyle McDaniel on Andujar:

Miguel Andujar, 3B Video: Andujar is an exciting young player that had a solid full-season debut, turning in league average offensive numbers in Low-A at age 19.  He has above average bat speed and an easy plus arm, with fringy speed, a chance to be at least average defensively at third and solid average raw power.  There’s plenty to project as an everyday player given the upside and youth, but there’s still a long way to go.

  1. I'm not arguing at all, just stating my opinion. I'm one of the people that buys into Jagielo. That being said, there is no denying the upside of Andujar. Again, I think it speaks volumes to how deep our system really is. I'm not sure if we have any superstar players, I could be wrong, but I think we'll be able to field a hell of a team within a couple years.

    1. Jagielo struggled a ton in 2014 and also struggled to stay on the field. Even if he's healthy for the entire season he is obviously ranked above Andujar. I may put too much stock into one season, I admit that, but that's what makes these lists great. They are subjective.

    2. He struck out more than I would like. That's a bit troubling for somebody that is supposed to be an advanced hitter. But there is no denying his left handed power. 18 homeruns in his limited at bats. It's almost scary thinking about what Jagielo could be capable of in Yankee stadium.

    3. He does show a lot of power, albeit at a lower level. You have to remember he is a finished and polished college product. He should be hitting these home runs, not to take anything away from him because high school, college, IFA, whatever 18 home runs in 18 home runs.
