Greedy Pinstripes Top 28 Prospects List: #24

Prospects Month is in full swing and we're already up to our 24th best prospect in the farm system, Ramon Flores.

Here is the write up from Kyle McDaniel on Flores:

Ramon Flores. LF Video: Flores is one of those players that reached his upside quickly, but doesn’t have much more to offer than as a solid part-time player. He has solid bat speed, great plate discipline and feel to hit with good plate coverage, but average at best power that limits the damage he can do.  Flores is a heady player with average speed and arm strength that can play all three outfield positions and should be able to contribute to the Yankees at some point in 2015 as the prototypical 4th outfielder that could hit his way into being a low-end regular for a few years.

  1. I'm not really sure where to place this guy. I don't really agree with the write up on Flores. It's possible he's reached his ceiling, but that's hard to say about a 23/24 year old. This seems like a good spot for him, but I might actually rank him just inside the top 20.

    1. I actually really agree with the write up from everything I have read. He doesn't seem to project any higher than he already is. Nothing special about him, plays all three positions and doesn't really do anything extremely well.

He could be solid though I guess.

  2. More than likely, you're right. By no means do I think he'll ever be a super star. I've just seen a slow improvement, particularly in power, each year. Not much improvement. Just enough to think he could be a pretty decent backup. I don't think he's much higher than you placed him. I think I just factor in their proximity to the majors a little more than you do. He can actually contribute this year, so he's a little higher to me.

    1. I guess you are right. I honestly thought he was a lot older than he was which really factored into my decision. Especially in the Yankees system.
