Game Thread: New York Yankees vs. Detroit Tigers 6/21

For the third and final time this weekend the New York Yankees and the Detroit Tigers will face off head-to-head inside Yankee Stadium. Both pitchers come into the contest off an extra day of rest for two totally different reasons. The Yankees start Masahiro Tanaka this afternoon after inserting Nathan Eovaldi in on short rest to give Tanaka and his teammates an extra day of rest to avoid injury while the Tigers were rained out Thursday night allowing Anibal Sanchez to make the start this afternoon in the Bronx. The game will be played at 1:05 pm ET and can be seen on the YES Network and MLB TV.

After this afternoon you have three more opportunities to see the Yankees live and in person inside Yankee Stadium. The team will play host to the Philadelphia Phillies for three games including a matchup against Cole Hamels on Wednesday that you will want to see live. By clicking the Yankees Tickets link at the top of the blog you can see that Hamels start and any of the other two contests without being charged an arm and a leg thanks to our friends at Ticket Monster.

It's Fathers Day and it's Tanaka Day so I'm going to let him have the stage for both occasions. Go Yankees!
