Game Thread: New York Yankees @ Chicago White Sox 7/31

The New York Yankees and the Chicago White Sox will play three games inside Chicago’s US Cellular Field with the first coming here in just a few minutes. This series will conclude a 10 game road trip for the Yankees where they have dominated in both stops thus far. New York will send Nathan Eovaldi to the mound tonight to set the tone for the team this series as Carlos Rodon looks to stop the red hot Yankees and keep the White Sox on the winning side of things. The game will be played at 8:10 pm ET and can be seen on the YES Network and MLB TV.

The Yankees head home on Tuesday to play host to the Boston Red Sox giving you just three more days to click that Yankees Tickets link at the top of the blog and snag a couple tickets to boo David Oritz and Hanley Ramirez live in the Bronx. Until then be sure to jump on Twitter and give @GreedyStripes a follow to root for the Yankees while they are in Chicago this week eating that disgrace that the locals call pizza.

Sabathia is ready and I don’t know if I should clap or simply blind my eyes, we’ll find out soon enough though. Go Yankees!

  1. Evo almost looks like he is tipping his cap to Hans in this picture.

    1. Sorry Burch as I told you the guy can have 15 wins this year. I'm not sold on a 5 inning pitcher that gives up before tonight 4.27 era and gets well over 6 runs for support. Look what they gave him tonight. It's like they know they are only getting 5 do they need to score for him. I'm not drinking the look Aid that Little P Mulch head is.

    2. He gave up three but he only needed 4, he can't help it the yankees put up more than triple that.

I understand what your saying Hans but you seem to hold the run support against Evo like he has anything to do with it.

    3. Burch obviously he can't control it and some pitchers face the opposite luck as I pointed out in a pervious post a week or two ago. If the water pistol had the run support that the dark night had for the mets he would have had two wins nine losses. So yes run support is a key but it's not the pitchers fault that he gets it or not. You know it as well as I do that his wins are not reflective of how he has pitched overall. 5 innings at a 4.27 prior to last nights win is not indicative of someone winning 11 games. He must have pictures of Little P with farm animals because Liitle P is the President of his fan club.

    4. Eovaldi has allowed three runs or less in 17 of his 21 starts this season and allowed four in two other starts so it is not like he's getting lit up and winning 12-11 games like Ivan Nova when he won 16 games, Phil Hughes when he won 18 games, Aaron Small, Shawn Chacon and all the others pitchers you bring up. It doesn't matter if he is getting 19 runs a night from the offense when the games are 19-3.

You have a real and a legit beef with the fact that he doesn't go late into games, and I have a post addressing that tomorrow, but the run support doesn't bother me. His ERA is high, eight earned runs against the Miami Marlins and five runs against the Washington Nationals (his two starts he gave up more than 4 ER) tend to do that to an ERA, especially when you're not pitching late into games.

    5. That is true but the big point you missed on is not getting deep into games and winning 11 games.

    6. I don't think I missed anything, I mentioned it in my comment and even agreed by saying you have a legit beef about it. I also mentioned that I had a post scheduled about it for tomorrow...

  2. THE REVOLVER...is passing wind to Hans. At 97 mph.

    1. Three runs allowed, once again though only 5 IP (at this time anyway, nobody up in pen for the 6th but at 104 pitches)

  3. BESIDES ME !.....Has anyone taken notice what Brendon Ryan is doing ?
Since coming back from the injury, along with the mustache, he is a force.
He's all over the place...hitting, running bases, and being the perfect fielder.
    Nice to see.

  4. HANS...another day, another day of rants toward Elfs, and ownership.

Sometimes you have a point, and more often you don't give things a chance
to work out. You need a break.
From Bill Cosby, to Hans, take these Quaaludes...and forget about Elfs.
Cosby, and the Elf, will wake you in the morning. Are you now wearing the skirt ?

    VIVA LA.....REVOLVER !

  5. You're a flip flopper Patty. You give a count down on trades that should be made. You make comments as I do about the elf but now you sound like an old John Lennon song except you say give things a chance. The water pistol beat the White Sox for gods sake and as Burch pointed out he still had over 100 pitches through 5. Don't be that guy that flip flops all the time little P. I have stayed consistent in my beliefs unlike you. Your only consistent thing is your belief in the 5 inning pitcher. Be better then others Little P and stay the course in your beliefs.

    1. KEN HANS....Hans-ome Johnny...............don't ask.

Ken....you confuse me with another. Flip-flopper / changer of one's beliefs, is
not patrick. My posting thread is always consistent....conservative, steady,
and laced with humor....but never doubling backwards on prior posts.

The water pistol....The Revolver...is not our savior, but the boy is improving.
100 pitches-88 pitches ? What difference ?....He wins ! Unlike Sabathia.

You, Ken Hans, stay true to your beliefs. I enjoy you immensely. You're funny,
and a bit on the wild side.

I always thought John Lennon was a communist. Never liked the guy.

Stay well, and take care.....Mr. Hans.

    2. I'm tired....long week, too many hours.

The rotation is not set, nor has it ever been, it will kill this years efforts...if not
rectified. I see the pitching....as patch work.
No reason, after all the player movement that just happened, that the
Yankees should of had / will have...Martin Prado as their second baseman.

Fix the pitching, or fade away into dark deadly waters.

The curtain has come down tonight.

  6. Kenny Rogers...anyone ever hear of him? Well, for those that haven't let me tell you he was the Evo of his time...big time run support and his numbers are very much like Evos'. He had a few 1 hitters and won many games over 20 years in the league but other than that he wasn't as good as Evo.

    1. You mean the singer the Gambler? He was a better pitcher than both of them

    2. Hey Ken, you may be right at that!
Just don't sell Evo short, he is better than one may think.
We have all seen "The Moose" change his way of pitching and CC is trying to do the same well so is Evo. The fore mentioned pitchers had to change two of them because they lost the fastball but, in Evos' case it is adding a new way of using his fastball with other pitches, about the same as Koufax. Koufax had to learn how to take something off his fastball and add another pitch which he did and the rest is history.
Evo may end up being one of our better pitchers IF he can put it all to gather.
