Weekly Check In: Gary Sanchez

Gary Sanchez is possibly the top Yankees catcher in the farm system with Luis Torrens on the shelf for the season and with that distinction comes the inevitable set of trade rumors that comes with the July 31st non-waiver trading deadline. Sanchez was asked for in many deals including a deal that would have sent him to the Atlanta Braves for outfielder Cameron Maybin but Cashman stood pat and held onto all his best and top prospects including Sanchez. That has to be a bit of a shot in the arm in the confidence department for Sanchez, doesn't it?

You can see why the Yankees would be willing to trade Sanchez, he's in Triple-A and currently blocked by Brian McCann and John Ryan Murphy for the foreseeable future. I can also see why the team wants it wants to hang onto Sanchez, he's hit well this season, especially for power, and has made great strides with his defense.

Either way Sanchez is safe for now and bringing these stats to the Scranton Wilkes-Barre RailRiders every single night.
