Subway Series Game One Preview: New York Yankees @ New York Mets 8/1

The New York Yankees and the New York Mets begin their four-games in two cities Subway Series tonight with the first two games coming in Queens inside Citi Field before the series shifts to the Bronx and Yankee Stadium for the final two contests. In the opener the New York Yankees will send CC Sabathia to the mound in a National League park (which I am personally questioning but okay) to square off against the Mets starter Logan Verrett.

Sabathia comes into this start fresh off another strong start against the Houston Astros where he pitched 6.2 innings in a victory. Sabathia has been good against the New York Mets throughout his career as well posting a 4-2 record with a 3.22 ERA in seven career starts.

Verrett has earned the Mets fifth starter position after Matt Harvey went down with season-ending surgery and the left-hander will make his Subway Series debut tonight for the club. Verrett has pitched much better at home this season posting a 3.29 ERA than he has on the road which is evident by his 5.00 road ERA.

The game will be played at 7:10 pm ET inside Citi Field in Queens and can be seen on the YES Network, ESPN and MLB TV. The August 1st trading deadline is now just four hours way, FOUR HOURS, so it's kind of hard to focus on this game with all the potential Yankees players coming and going including Sabathia (however unlikely) but we'll try. Either way, no matter who is left on the roster, Go Yankees!
