Good morning everyone and, weather permitting, welcome back
to New York Yankees baseball. The Yankees are fresh off their four-game mini
vacation this week and have made the trip to Kansas City and Kauffman Stadium
to begin a series with the Kansas City Royals. In the opener the Yankees will
send CC Sabathia to the mound to face off with Jakob Junis (who?) for the
Royals. I am just grateful that the boys in pinstripes are back, no matter who
they are playing, so let’s get to it here in Kansas City.
Sabathia will start tonight rather than take his scheduled
turn on Wednesday in Washington after the game was rained out. Sabathia has
posted a 2-0 record with a 1.65 ERA in five starts since coming off the disabled
list in mid-April with the Yankees winning four of the five starts. #Stopper
Junis was not sharp in his last start against the Cleveland
Indians where the Royals starter gave up six hits and four earned runs in 5.2
innings worth of work. This will be the first time Junis has seen the Yankees
and vice versa.
The game will be played at 8:15 pm ET inside Kauffman
Stadium in Kansas City and can be seen on WPIX Channel 11. You can also follow
along with the game on MLB TV, with the MLB At-Bat app or by tuning into the
Yankees radio broadcast on WFAN with the legendary duo of John Sterling and
Suzyn Waldman.
Enjoy the game, no seriously… who is Jakob Junis? and go
Yankees!
