Robinson Cano Banned 80 Games for Failed PED Test

Former New York Yankees second baseman and current Seattle Mariners second baseman Robinson Cano has been banned for 80 games by Major League Baseball after testing positive for a banned substance.

Cano's failed test was for a substance called Furosemide. A quick Google search of Furosemide and a trip to WebMD brings up the following:

Furosemide is used to reduce extra fluid in the body (edema) caused by conditions such as heart failureliver disease, and kidney disease. This can lessen symptoms such as shortness of breath and swelling in your arms, legs, and abdomen.
This drug is also used to treat high blood pressure. Lowering high blood pressure helps prevent strokes, heart attacks, and kidney problems.
Furosemide is a "water pill" (diuretic) that causes you to make more urine. This helps your body get rid of extra water and salt.

Kind of sounds like something you would take had you known a steroid test was coming, huh?

More to come as information becomes available. #BlameJayZ.

  1. Robinson Cano...So, how long has this been going on ?

My guess....a long time. We'll never know, but that is my take.
Now all the excuses, yes excuses, are starting to find their way into this. Poor Robby.

What fools, what jerks, those well wishers are.....All for a jerk,
    such as you, Robinson Cano.
How long have you been doing this Robby? Just go away.

Speaking of jerks, lets wheel in the Mariners mgmt. team.
Cano turns 36 in October, and he is still under contract for 5 more
    years, and $120,000,000.00.
Big looking number? Bigger looking fools.

    1. Also makes you wonder because Cano has been busted for PED's. Dee Gordon has, his teammate, as well as Nelson Cruz, also his teammate. Now while the latter two failed tests not with Seattle it makes you wonder if they had at least an influence on Cano.

  2. Never liked Cano for not hustling. I'm a purest who wants my players to hustle all the time. Can't deny the talent, well maybe now I can deny it with PED use

  3. Ken Hans...My hand is on top your shoulder. Nice to ride with you again.
    It has been awhile.
Cano, forget him. Being paid a fortune, and he cheats.
The ones that do the best they can, play by the rules....garner
    my respect.

    1. Patrick I hope all is well. I couldn't agree with you more. Greed is a powerful thing. These guys don't understand they are playing a childs game and getting paid handsomely for it.

    2. Ken...Yes, all is well. My busy season is all consuming.
I read here every night, and will do my best to participate.

After watching Sabathia's third inning efforts tonight in KC, and Tanaka's recent adventures...I sure hope mgmt. is looking to acquire pitching by the trade dead line.

They've missed out on Verlander, and the Pittsburgh pitcher.
      George would have had both.

  4. Think Mark Teixeira said it best when he was talking to Michael Kay this week. No one should be surprised that he got caught using.

A-Rod got caught. Melky got caught. They are his best friends and both were suspended when the Biogenesis clinic fell out. Cano's trainer was also named in the Biogenesis scandal. No surprise here, I just think many of us didn't want to believe it to be true.

    1. Daniel...I also heard his remarks on the Kay show. You stole my
      thunder.
I felt saddened at first, very briefly....until I connected the
dots as you show in your above post.
He did it. He only is to blame. We can only guess for how long.
      What a fool.

  5. A bit late to the show but, I have said (as does Ken H) "These guys get paid to play a kids game!" There are maybe 10 people on this blog that would love to have the talent God gave players like A-Rod (the others are not in the same league) The sad part is, most of them didn't need to partake the talent was there all the time.
