Game Preview: New York Yankees @ Texas Rangers 5/23

Good morning everyone and welcome back to Arlington, Texas, the location of the third and final game of a three-game set between the New York Yankees and the Texas Rangers. The Yankees offense has remained hot and the pitching has done enough to keep the team rolling and they will look to do so again tonight with CC Sabathia toeing the rubber for New York. The Rangers will counter with Doug Fister for the finale. Let’s get to it here in Arlington, Texas.

Sabathia finally took his first loss of the 2018 season in his last start against the Kansas City Royals. Sabathia pitched well enough to win but his start was foiled by shaky defense behind him including two errors by Gleyber Torres.

Fister does not have a win for the Rangers since March 30 despite having his best start of the season last time out. Fister pitched seven scoreless innings last time out against the Chicago White Sox striking out four while allowing six hits, but the start ended in a no-decision for the Rangers right-hander.

The game will be played at 7:05 pm ET inside Globe Life Park in Arlington and can be seen on the YES Network and MLB Network. You can also follow along with the game on MLB TV, with the MLB At-Bat app and by tuning into the Yankees radio broadcast with the legendary duo of John Sterling and Suzyn Waldman.

Enjoy the game, like a good Gleyber… Torres is there, and go Yankees!!

And just like that it is game time here in Arlington, Texas as the Texas Rangers play host to the New York Yankees. In the second game of their three-game set this week the Yankees will send Domingo German to the mound to face off with Cole Hamels for the Rangers. Familiar faces, familiar foes. The game will be played at 8:05 pm ET inside Globe Life Park in Arlington and can be seen on the YES Network. You can also follow along with the game on MLB TV, with the MLB At-Bat app and by tuning into the Yankees radio broadcast on WFAN with John Sterling and Suzyn Waldman.

Game Preview: New York Yankees @ Texas Rangers 5/22

Good morning everyone and welcome back to Arlington for the second game of a three-game set between the New York Yankees and the Texas Rangers. The Yankees remain hot while the Rangers continue to try and stay within striking distance of the Houston Astros and the postseason here in 2018. In the start tonight, the Yankees will send out rookie starter Domingo German while the Rangers will send out a man that is already being speculated as a potential trade target for the Yankees this July, left-hander Cole Hamels. Let’s get to it here in hot and humid Texas.

German regressed a little in his second MLB start after bursting onto the scene with six hitless innings in his debut against the Cleveland Indians on May 6. German started against the Oakland Athletics in his second career start on May 12 and allowed six runs on six hits in five innings of work. Which German will we see tonight? Nobody knows, stay tuned.

Hamels missed his last start due to neck stiffness and has not pitched since May 11 against the Houston Astros. In that start Hamels allowed just one hit in six innings of work striking out five along the way. Hamels may be potentially auditioning to join the Yankees later on in the summer should the Rangers fall out of contention and should the Yankees feel that another starter, or a veteran starter, is needed for the postseason push.

It could be worse, it could be Mike Francesa.

Enjoy the game, Hamels audition for the Bronx starts in eight hours, and go Yankees!!

The Yankees “Evil Empire” Strikes Again

We're going to rant this morning about Chase Headley, spoiler alert, so how about a feel good story to jump start the weekend before the game starts tonight inside Fenway Park. It’s convenient that the Yankees would release this news on the eve of facing off with the team whose president called them the Evil Empire but that’s only if you believe in coincidences. I do not. What the Yankees did this week though is they let a 13-year old boy named Tracen Visage mark one of his items off his bucket list at the young man got to meet with his favorite team, the Yankees.

Tracen is battling kidney failure and his body is currently in the end-stage of renal failure. Before Tuesday night’s game the young man, who was diagnosed with kidney failure in 2009 and who has been on dialysis treatments ever since, got to meet the Yankees while hanging out with the team in the dugout and on the field. Tracen is a huge Yankees fan living in Texas and thanks to a Yankees scout, Ron Brand, and Yankees GM Brian Cashman the young man met with many Yankees including Brett Gardner, Brian McCann, Tony Pena, Ken Singleton, David Cone, Rob Thomson, Carlos Beltran, Alex Rodriguez, CC Sabathia, Starlin Castro and manager Joe Girardi.

The Yankees not only made a kids day but they may have made his life. The reports all said that Cashman and the Yankees were very open to the idea of Tracen meeting the team and hanging out with the players and I couldn’t be more proud to be a fan of this organization. There is no other organization better or more giving then this one in my very bias, yet very humble, opinion.

Game Thread: New York Yankees @ Texas Rangers 4/27

The New York Yankees have two tasks today and the good news for New York is that one tasks pretty much coincides with the other. The first task being achieving a victory against the Texas Rangers tonight inside Globe Life Park in Arlington and the second being not looking ahead to a large series with the Boston Red Sox that is looming this weekend. This has trap game written all over it, especially with the off day tomorrow, so hopefully the Yankees keep their foot on the gas and get another win to put in the win column. Donned with the task of getting the victory is the Yankees 5th starter CC Sabathia while the Rangers send Martin Perez to the mound to oppose him. The game will be played at 8:05 pm ET and can be seen on the YES Network, ESPN and MLB TV.

The Yankees have an off day tomorrow before heading to Boston to face off with the Red Sox inside of Fenway Park. The Yankees won’t see home for almost another week which gives you plenty of time to click the Yankees Tickets link at the top of the blog and to get your Yankees tickets in hands when the team returns home to Yankee Stadium. Until then though you can just live tweet the game with us on Twitter by giving @GreedyStripes, it’s almost like being there.

One more game in the heat in Texas and we head back to the north east where Mother Nature is not done playing her usual tricks. One day it’s warm, another day’s it’s freezing. Nothing cures this more than a win though so let’s get one. Go Yankees!

Game Preview: New York Yankees @ Texas Rangers 4/27

The New York Yankees have traditionally done well not only in the ballpark in Arlington but in the state of Texas as well. New York has one more game in the great state of Texas this week before an off day for travel tomorrow and a trip to Fenway Park and a date with the Boston Red Sox. The Yankees cannot afford to get ahead of themselves though as they face a tough task tonight inside Globe Life Park. The Rangers send one of their better pitchers to the mound in Martin Perez while the Yankees counter with their fifth starter CC Sabathia.

Sabathia has had the shortest leash of his career from manager Joe Girardi and when he exited his last start with less than 80 pitches you could tell he was visibly shocked and upset. Sabathia hasn’t gotten out of the fifth inning in either of his last two starts and will look to at least get a quality start tonight against the Rangers.

Perez has made four starts this season and has yet to come away with a victory decision to show for it, a trend that hopefully continues tonight. Perez has made one career start against the Yankees and it came last year when he allowed eight runs in one-plus inning of work in Arlington.

The game will be played at 8:05 pm ET inside Globe Life Park in Arlington and can be seen on the YES Network, ESPN and MLB TV. Every win is an important win for the Yankees at this point in the season and these wins are all the more enjoyable while you’re riding on a plane with an off day in your near future. The Yankees are off tomorrow so let the good times roll tonight.

Go Yankees!

Game Thread: New York Yankees @ Texas Rangers 4/26

The New York Yankees are heading up to the plate and the Texas Rangers have taken the field. AJ Griffin has taken the mound for the Rangers and the Yankees starter Luis Severino has thrown his final pitches in the bullpen. It's game time ladies and gentleman for the second time in this three-game set this week in Arlington. The Yankees need these wins in the worst way right now after their sluggish start to the 2016 season and a win tonight and a win tomorrow would go a long way because it's never too late, or early for that matter, to turn things around. That could start tonight with the game that will be start at 8:05 pm ET inside Globe Life Park in Arlington. The game can be seen on the YES Network and MLB TV.

Click the Yankees Tickets link at the top of the blog to have your Yankees Tickets in hand for when the team returns home to the Bronx and Yankee Stadium later on this season. If you can't make it live either on the road or at home in New York then that's not an issue thanks to Twitter. We live tweet each and every Yankees game every season so you can follow long and/or interact with us every game this season. Follow us, you know you want to.

Go Yankees!

Game Preview: New York Yankees @ Texas Rangers 4/26

The New York Yankees and the Texas Rangers are ready to face off head-to-head for the second time in as many nights tonight in Globe Life Park in Arlington. Last night the Yankees dodged a bullet thanks in large part to a cranky left groin from Cole Hamels and they instead pulled Cesar Ramos out of the Rangers pen. Tonight they won't be so lucky as AJ Griffin takes the mound for the Rangers while Luis Severino takes the ball for the Yankees.

Severino heads into his first start ever against the Texas Rangers tonight after easily his best start of the young season last time out. Last time Severino took the ball it was against the Oakland Athletics where he pitched six innings allowing just two runs in an eventual Yankees loss.

Griffin heads into his fourth career start against the Yankees tonight looking to improve on his impressive career stats against the team. Griffin owns a career 2-0 record with a 3.12 ERA in three career starts against the Yankees and will likely be a tough pull for the Yankees again tonight. Griffin is holding opposing batters to a .203 average this season including a .129 BAA against right-handed hitters so expect to see a load of lefties tonight from New York.

The game will be played at 8:05 pm ET inside Globe Life Park in Arlington and can be seen on the YES Network and MLB TV. The man with the most to prove tonight, if you believe that history is any indicator of the future, is Mr. Severino as he has not started the season as strongly as he would like. As you know the Yankees tend to have short leashes with prospects and young players and they especially do when said player has minor league options remaining like Severino. He had a strong start last time out but he needs another or his job may soon be in jeopardy in the Bronx. Especially with Ivan Nova pitching as well as he has out of the Yankees bullpen.

Go Yankees!

Game Preview: New York Yankees @ Texas Rangers 4/25

The New York Yankees have played their getaway game yesterday afternoon and have made the trip out west to Arlington to face off with the Texas Rangers. How convenient that the Houston native Nathan Eovaldi opens up the series on the mound for the Yankees, huh? Opposing Eovaldi on the mound tonight will be Cesar Ramos as these two teams kick off a three-game set.

Eovaldi is still a work in progress and is still "eovolving" at this point in his career. While he still gives up more hits than he should for a guy with 99+ MPH stuff he has increased his strikeout totals a bit this season. Eovaldi has struck out at least seven batters in seven straight starts, which is good for a share of such a streak in Yankees franchise history, but his ERA is still sitting at 6.11 while he searches for his first victory of the year.

Ramos is making the start tonight in the place of Cole Hamels after being recalled from Triple-A this week. Hamels is dealing with a strained left groin muscle while Ramos bring an 0-1 record and 3.18 Triple-A ERA to the ballpark in Arlington tonight. This will be the first start for Ramos in the major leagues since May 17, 2014 while he was a member of the Tampa Bay Rays.

The game will be played at 8:05 pm ET inside Globe Life Park in Arlington and can be seen on the YES Network, ESPN and MLB TV. You guys know me by now, I hate West Coast games. I'm not really a fan of these central time zone games either. It's hard enough for me to stay up until 10:00 - 11:00 pm ET and get up no later than 5:00 am the next morning and these games start an hour later than usual so.. yeah. If I'm quiet during the game don't call the cops and report me missing, I may be snoozing. Hopefully the Yankees aren't snoozing though.

Go Yankees!
