So it Seems… Mayweather v. McGregor

Today is the day ladies and gentleman that undefeated boxing champion Floyd “Money” Mayweather takes on UFC star and champion Conor McGregor. Who ya got?

Me personally I find it hard to bet against Mayweather and that’s only because of the Manny Pacquiao fight. If that fight taught us anything it is that Mayweather doesn’t have to be dominant or even all that good to win a fight, not a boxing match anyway. This is exactly what I think is going to happen. Mayweather is going to dance around, jab and run for about five-or-six rounds. Just long enough for McGregor to get frustrated and start chasing him wanting to make something happen and then Conor is going to get tagged. Lights out, game over.

Conor used to be a boxer but he isn’t much of a boxer anymore. If you don’t believe that than I have two words for you… Nate Diaz. Diaz cleaned McGregor’s clock more than once and he did it by boxing. McGregor doesn’t stand a chance unless he catches Mayweather getting cocky or arrogant and catches him with a punch. Anyone can be caught at any time, even Mayweather.

I know it’s not the pick that everyone wanted to see but that’s just how I see the fight going down. It won’t be Miguel Cabrera vs. the Yankees but it will be entertaining nonetheless. Enjoy it and enjoy the weekend!

Especially you. I’m missing you. HEY YOU. I love you Kari.

While We Wait: UFC 202 Post-Fight Interviews

I don't know what the acceptable time period is to talk about potential spoilers and such so if you haven't watched UFC 202 yet and you don't know who won then please look away now. You have been warned......

Okay so if you did see the fight you saw that Conor McGregor beat Nate Diaz in an intense and grueling five-round decision that was not without its controversy. Personally I thought McGregor won the fight as well and two of the judges agreed so maybe I'm not that far off but I can absolutely see the side of and understand your point if you thought Diaz pulled it out. It was that close, especially in the later rounds.

So while we wait let's check out the always entertaining post-fight interviews from the fight with both McGregor and Diaz. Enjoy and enjoy the game tonight as well.

Better Things to Do Than Watch the Yankees Lose This Weekend

You don’t really want to sit around your television for a collective 9-10 hours this weekend just to watch the Yankees lose to the Cleveland Indians, do you? I don’t either and I don’t blame you so here’s a few things you can do this weekend rather than watching the Yankees lose. You’re welcome

  • UFC 200 is Saturday night and despite Jon Jones being taken off the card the show should still be worth the three or so hours and the $60. I’m still buying it, I know that much. Brock. Lesnar. Meisha. Tate. Woo!

  • Talk to people. Not digitally. Really talk.

  • Go to Wal Mart after 9:00 pm.

  • Go outside.

  • Read a book.

  • Read a book outside. May I suggest Mike DeLucia’s “Boycott The Yankees”

  • Order a TGP T-shirt including the Jacoby Ellsbury milk carton shirt for stealing home not once this season but twice.

That’s it folks, there you have it. That should keep you plenty busy not only this weekend but through the All Star break as well. Again, you’re welcome.

This post was done all in fun. Treat it that way. Thanks.

Yankees Off Night Open Thread

The New York Yankees are off tonight so when there’s a night without a game we usually leave you with an open thread. An open thread much like the one we leave you with tonight. There are plenty of draft signings, trade rumors and ideas and such to talk about so you should have plenty to keep you busy without the Yankees in your lives again tonight.

By the way, have you seen the card for UFC 200? The rematch between Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier. The return of Brock Lesnar. The title defense from Meisha Tate. Wow, what a card and I can’t wait for that on July 9th. Talk about that or anything else you’d like for the remainder of the night just keep it clean and keep it respectful please.

Thank you and enjoy your night.

TGP Saturday Night Open Thread

Boy do I need an open thread tonight, I’m whooped. First and foremost watching the Yankees is just mentally draining lately and it is especially nerve wracking when you watch them play against a division rival like the Tampa Bay Rays. Then I had to weed eat two acres of grass today because it was getting long and my lawnmower did not want to start. After working on it for about an hour I gave up and weed eated (which is not a word I know but I’m tired and my mind doesn’t work right now) everything. I’m getting too old for that.

Also as you know I am an avid Walking Dead fan and I play their app Walking Dead Road to Survival. Well a couple weekend a month factions can go head-to-head in All Out War and that was this weekend. It’s basically 72 hours of taking strong points and killing characters. Well, maybe a little crap talking too but I’ll never tell. I’m beat so here is your open thread for the night. Be good because I’m going to bed soon.

Oh wait, I can’t. UFC 197 and Jon Jones is tonight. Crap. Well, have a good one anyway!

Weekend Finale Open Thread

The New York Yankees game with the Chicago White Sox is in the books and so is the weekend. What a sports weekend this was too with the Yankees playing a trio of games inside US Cellular Field while UFC 190 went down late into the night Saturday night. I'm beat and the grind of work begins tomorrow whether I'm ready or not so I'm going to bed shortly.

So tonight I leave you with a musical recommendation out of my own personal collection, "Face the Pain" by Stemm. This is the into music to UFC everytime a PPV comes on and I had the fights from the weekend on the mind when I posted this. Enjoy!
