Robinson Cano 2B
Vernon Wells DH
Curtis Granderson LF
Lyle Overbay 1B
Jayson Nix SS
Ichiro Suzuki RF
Chris Nelson 3B

Notes:

-- As you can tell by the lineup, the Grandy Man has been activated and Vidal Nuno has been sent to Triple-AAA. This move caused outcry to Yankees fans as they wondered...why is Ben Francisco still here?

  1. A great victory tonight. Any time you can win a game that Felix starts is big but trailing 3-0 late in the game with Felix cruising along things really seemed bleak. May have gotten a little help getting Felix out of the game with the little back injury but they took advantage.

Some great ABs by Gardner, Cano & Overbay against a tough lefty in Furbush....Gardner battled to work a big Walk and put the tying run on base for Cano.....Cano delivered with a 2-strike, 2-run, game-tying Double on a Slider. Cano has made a career of crushing breaking balls left over the plate. Overbay then got the game winner with another tough AB.....he worked the count full with the bases loaded and got a FB he could handle for a hard Sac Fly. Overbay had another great game at the plate.

The pen continues to dominate with 3 more scoreless innings to raise the streak to 23 scoreless innings in a row. The solid starting pitching, dominating pen and the battling offense which comes alive in the late innings has been the formula the Yanks have used to keep winning close games, now 8-2 in 1-run games and 16-5 in games decided by 2 or less.
