Torre, Cox, & LaRussa Elected To Hall of Fame

It's not every day that you see a manager the caliber of a Joe Torre, Bobby Cox, or a Tony LaRussa which really puts today into perspective. All three of these legendary managers are being inducted into the Hall of Fame at the same time which is really amazing if you think about it.

The 16 person Expansion Era committee unanimously elected Torre into the hall, the long time Yankees manager from 1996-2007.  Cox and LaRussa were also unanimously elected and that is the way it should be, all three of these gentleman are special.

Former Yankees manager Billy Martin, former Yankees pitcher Tommy John, and the late Yankees owner George Steinbrenner were not elected to the hall. Former MLB Players Association head Marvin Miller was also not elected into Cooperstown today in case you were wondering.

  1. What a joke...Clueless Joe Torre made it? For what? Having the copy list made out everyday the same?
With the Yankees, he was in the right place at the right time, on the best team (some say) ever put together.
Some fans are dumb, blind and young if they believe that!
Maybe the writers forgot his sleeping on the bench in Cleveland while Joba was attack by midges, he didn't even know if it was his 1st or 2nd trip to the mound...he was the reason for that loss not Joba!

  2. Assisted living Ranger..............the midges ! Insects ! Joba ?

How long have you been waiting to say that?
All your points make fine sense, as always. But, until Torre arrived in town, that line-up card
accomplished little. They needed Joe's strong shoulders to lean on.
Surprised at you. Very harsh..............go stand in the corner. ( with Twasp )

    1. Wrong Patrick, the team had the last parts put in place before Joe Arrived. He was a NY wise guy and knew how to play the reporters.
The right guy at the right time in the right place but, HoF manager over Billy Martin? And "The Boss didn't get in! He, who has done more for the money players get now-days than any one person in baseball!

    2. The problem with the boss is he rubbed a lot of people the wrong way and apparently they are holding grudges. The whole Dave Winfield thing, getting suspended, etc. He will get in eventually, probably in 2016, but it may be too soon for some.

    3. The boss was of one mind set...The Yankees...that is for sure. Showalter and he both have had a problem with disregarding how a job gets done...just so it gets done. Yup, many in the media have ripped both of them over the years.
Many of the owners were very Jealous of George and his way of doing things, but look what he did for the players and baseball.

  3. I think this teams make-up is starting to look more and more like a very good team. It needs one good top-notch pitcher and one of the kids to kick in with some #4-5 pitchers numbers and we would be set.
We have Jeter on his down side, along with Tex coming off an injury, let's give them a chance to show they can be a big part of this team. We have CC, coming off his worse year, hopefully that is his adjustment year to less MPH on his fastball.

We do have some question marks and age (both ways) but, I have faith in the team coming together as a unit and play as their cards show.

  4. Zoilo Almonte as our 4th OF or starter if Brett gets traded.....
Switch hitter.288 avg., .776 OPS left-handed and .255 avg., .592 OPS but, what I like his 2 outs and RISP of .299. Some extensive work with Long and that may improve.

    1. If Gardner gets traded Zoilo is definitely headed to the bench. I am also assuming we get rid of Vernon Wells.

Sorry for the Capatcha... Blame the Russians :)
