Yankees Sign Esmil Rogers, Avoid Arbitration

I'm not quite sure I understand this move for the Yankees but anyway, moving on.

  1. Heathcott, Campos, and Huff all non-tendered. Is this the prelude to a spending spree? How about going out and getting Lester, Scherzer, & Moncado. That would be a very merry christmas.

    1. Lester and Moncada sound good to me. I would be satisfied with Moncada but, Lester would (IF all stay healthy) let the team have 3 number one starters...Tank, Pineda and aforementioned Lester! Not bad, when we have to play the "Beast of the East" teams we would have NO weak sisters pitching. We would also beadding a good bat to the line-up, at SS no less!

  2. Guy's have you forgotten the clowned prince of Gm's is running the show. Wow our big moves are signing Rogers and Young and trading Cervi. I don't understand how Hal brought this guy back. I have lost faith in the Yankees so called brain trust. We have more holes to fill than swiss cheese. Having feelers out isn't good enough.

I was watching Yankees hot stove the other night and Bob Klapish made a great point, the Yankees are to concerned with the label of spending the most money and he said if you have it spend it. The red Sox and the Dodgers see someone they want they get them. We sit there and balance our 3 Billion net worth check book. Its comical

  3. Jeff,

it very well could be. The Yankees now have four open slots on the 40 man roster and the deadline to protect prospects for the Rule 5 Draft has come and gone. Cashman could be making room and also still could bring back Campos and Heathcott on new minor league deals like they did David Adams not too long ago and Nik Turley and Corban Joseph most recently.

  4. Ken Hans,

I think Hal is more worried about the 0.50 on the dollar tax more than anything. I have said this before, George made his money before and the Yankees were his hobby. The brothers are making a living off the Yankees.

George operated in the red for many, many years

    1. One more thing to be added to that fact is: "Who says Cashman was given the money to just sign anyone he needs?"
Don't forget, he has to run every "Big Money" deal by the powers that be...Hal and the "Tampa Cabal"! Those that have the idea he runs the show are very mistaken, as I and Daniel have pointed out many times.
One thing I have not looked into about the family is, do they still get money from the Shipping Building Company George had, or did they sell that as they did with "YES TV"? IF they still own it but have someone running it for them they should still get a big check from it, and if they do, why squeeze the Yankee budget?
Something to consider, right? New, very, very rich ownership is needed...NOW!
