Game Thread: New York Yankees @ Minnesota Twins 7/26

Sunday afternoon game time Yankees family, let's get it. Hopefully the offense, much like they did on Friday night, doesn't lull us all into a nice little Sunday afternoon nap. Anyway, the Yankees will face off with the Minnesota Twins in the finale of their three game set in just a few minutes inside Target Field this weekend. New York will send Nathan Eovaldi to the mound to face off against the Twins starter Kyle Gibson. The game will be played at 2:10 pm ET and can be seen on the YES Network, Fox Sports North and MLB TV.

After this game you have just seven more opportunities, four games in Texas and three games in Chicago against the White Sox, to click the Yankees tickets link at the top of the blog to grab your Yankees tickets before the team returns home to Yankee Stadium. Until then be sure to jump on Twitter and give @GreedyStripes a follow to root for the home team while they are playing out west.

I am definitely interested in this start for Eovaldi as I wonder if he will make yet another good start for New York or whether I'll be stuck defending him on Twitter on Monday morning. Either way, Go Yankees!

  1. 10 straight good starts for Eovaldi and 10 wins.... Doesn't matter that ther Yankees scored him 7 runs, he gave up one run.

    1. Still a 4th or 5th starter, not an ace. Aces go 7 IP+ consistently. Although I would like to see him go longer, no doubt. You expect too much me thinks.

  3. SOUR GRAPES...Hans.
The only blind squirrel in in your shorts....laughing.

The Revolver is now 10-2, and he should be 12-2. And Hans wines in the stew !
    Change Hans diaper...please !

What say you Nolan Ryan ?
" That cow poke can bring it. He is really a cool guy. And now he is 10-2 ! "

  4. Patty Patty Boy, you just don't get it. He finally........ pitched out of the 5th inning and still has an era of 4.27 and gets 0ver 6.5 in run support. Where is my sour grapes? I am stating facts.

  5. HANSEL....still doing the two step, and no one is dancing with you...except for
that homosexual squirrel that gathers nuts for you.

The point is....the Revolver needs only 3.0 runs these days. The rest is gravy.

As you well know, his ERA is way down, and pitching deeper into winning games
is about to happen. Just continue to watch.

    * Hansel...do I know you from years back ? Maybe you rode under
a different name ? Sometimes I get a feeling I may have known you.

  6. No Patsy you didn't know me, however riding deeper into games is actually quite amusing. He went past the 6th for the first time in god knows how long. The guy is still pitching to a 4.27 and has taxed the bullpen. I don't need anyone on here to agree with me. I have the stats. Look up the name Aaron Small and see what he did with smoke and mirrors for the Yanks one year and then see what he did the next year for them. Not sold yet Patty Boy

    1. 10-0 one season, disaster the next. Difference between him and Eovaldi is that while both benefited from tremendous run support only one of them were winning 8-7 games consistently, and it isn't Eovaldi. Again, he's not an ace and is far from pitching like one but that 4.27 ERA is down from an ERA well over 5... and in July that is saying something.

he was showcased as a work in progress and if he continues to dominate every start from here on out will still be a work in progress, just farther along. Same can be said if he goes to Chicago and lays an egg, still a work in progress. We just need to be patient.

Eovaldi isn't likely starting in a five game playoff series and only starts once in a seven game series. We have more to worry about from Pineda then we do Eovaldi here lately.
