8/15 Yankees Game Preview vs. Tampa Bay Rays

The New York Yankees and the Tampa Bay Rays will start a three game set tonight as the two AL East foes face off for three games at Tropicana Field this weekend. The Yankees are coming off a tough series in which Baltimore took two games and Mother Nature took one from New York leaving them reeling in the AL East division and Wild Card races. The Yankees look to get back on track tonight as they send Brandon McCarthy to the mound to face off with the Rays Alex Cobb. The game will be played at 7:05 pm ET and can be seen on the YES Network, MLB TV, and can be heard on the radio with John Sterling and Suzyn Waldman, Mr. and Mrs. Baseball, on WFAN.

McCarthy suffered his first loss as a Yankee last time out but not because he pitched poorly. McCarthy suffered from the Hiroki Kuroda effect and the team failed to give him any run support in a tough loss to the Cleveland Indians on Saturday at the Stadium. McCarthy has easily been the Yankees best pitcher since coming over in the trade with the Arizona Diamondbacks and is seemingly the glue that is holding the entire pitching staff together.

Cobb is coming off a start in which he held the Chicago Cubs to just one run and six hits while striking out six in six innings pitched last time out. Cobb was in total control as he didn't walk a batter and looks to keep his hot streak going tonight in Tampa St. Pete.

Go Yankees!
