Current Projected Lineup for 2014

Nothing is official yet but the signing of Jacoby Ellsbury most likely means the end of Curtis Granderson's tenure in the Bronx.  Here is the projected lineup by yours truly for next season and yes I still believe Cano will resign.  The powers that be are mad about missing the playoffs and there will be hell to pay!

1. Jacoby Ellsbury - CF
2. Derek Jeter - SS
3. Robinson Cano - 2B
4. Mark Teixeira - 1B
5. Brian McCann - C
6. Alfonso Soriano - DH
7. Eduardo Nunez - 3B (tbd)
8. Ichiro Suzuki - RF
9. Brett Gardner - LF

Obviously, there will be some DH days for Jeter and Soriano will move to the outfield on those days and on days Ichiro needs a rest.  I feel much better about this offense already.  This may be the fastest lineup the Yanks have ever had.  Furthermore, I made it all the way through without mentioning a certain someone.

Now to solve the rotation issue.

  1. Switch Teix and Sori and you are right on.

  2. I could see that...I would just rather have Soriano's strikeouts behind McCann instead of in the cleanup spot...

  3. Tex is a great defender. No way the Yanks will DH him

    2. I meant switch them in the lineup, not the position. Sorry for not being more clear.

  4. Now don't get all pissed off guys but, if I where the Manager it would be;
    1. Jacoby Ellsbury - CF
    2. Brett Gardner - LF
    3. Robinson Cano - 2B
    4. Mark Teixeira - 1B
    5. Brian McCann - C
    6. Alfonso Soriano - DH
    7.Derek Jeter - SS
    8. Eduardo Nunez - 3B (tbd)
    9. Ichiro Suzuki - RF
I just like the damage Ells' and Brett can do if in that situation. Jeter doesn't see very many pitches...Brett does! Besides, that puts four speedy base runners back to back to back to back...just think of the pitcher going through those four guys...a head case waiting to happen.
As we have no idea what we are going to get from Tex, let him see if he can hit in the Number 4 spot. if not change it up!
Obviously, that is why I wouldn't be the manager! LOL

    1. lefty, lefty, lefty, switch, lefty. If that wouldnt make opposing managers with a LOOGY happy I dont know what would. If you do that Soriano has to hit 3rd to break up the lefties followed by Cano

  5. The 9-1 crossover is pretty important and Gardner fits that bill perfectly...he sees more pitches than anyone just when the pitcher starts to begin to wear down easier.

    1. Thats more of an argument to make him the lead off hitter, lol, his pitches per plate appearance.
