Game Thread: New York Yankees @ Boston Red Sox 8/4

And just like that it is game time here in the Bronx between the New York Yankees and the Boston Red Sox. Rivalry renewed, let’s get to this here in Boston. In the start this afternoon the Yankees will send Chance Adams out to the mound to make his MLB debut while the Red Sox will counter with Nathan Eovaldi. The game will be played at 4:05 pm ET inside Boston’s historic Fenway Park and can be seen on the YES Network in New York, NESN is Boston and Fox Sports One if you are out of either market. You can also follow along with the game on MLB TV, with the MLB At-Bat app or by tuning into the Yankees radio broadcast with John Sterling and Suzyn Waldman on WFAN.

Game Preview: New York Yankees @ Boston Red Sox 8/4

The New York Yankees and the Boston Red Sox are back at it again this afternoon inside Fenway Park in the third of their four-game weekend set in Boston. Could the Yankees potentially get a glimpse into their future this afternoon? Only time will tell, but for today’s start the Yankees will call up RHP Chance Adams to make his MLB debut in place of JA Happ while the Red Sox will counter with a familiar face to the Bombers in former Yankees pitcher Nathan Eovaldi. Let’s get to it here in Boston’s historic Fenway Park, home of the Green Monstah.

Adams will make his MLB debut this afternoon for the Yankees in place of JA Happ who had contracted hand, foot and mouth disease. Adams has struggled some in the minor leagues this season for the Yankees and at Triple-A in general, but will get the chance, no pun intended, to make all of that go away with a strong start this afternoon in Beantown.

Eovaldi will once again see the greatest rivalry in the history of Major League Baseball, but this time from the side of the Boston Red Sox. Eovaldi was a pitcher for the Yankees in 2015 and 2016 but was recently traded to the Red Sox from the Rays before the trade deadline.

Enjoy the game, good luck to you Chance, and go Yankees!!

Game Thread: New York Yankees vs. Tampa Bay Rays 6/14

And just like that it is game time here in the Bronx between the New York Yankees and the Tampa Bay Rays. In the first of a four-game weekend set here inside Yankee Stadium the Yankees will send Domingo German out to the mound still looking for his first victory of the season while the Rays will counter with Blake Snell looking to keep the young Yankees right-hander winless. The game will be played at 7:05 pm ET inside Yankee Stadium and can be seen on Fox Sports One. You can also follow along with the game, I think anyway, on MLB TV, with the MLB At-Bat app and by tuning into the Yankees radio broadcast with John Sterling and Suzyn Waldman on WFAN.

Follow us on Twitter, @GreedyStripes, and “Like” us on Facebook, The Greedy Pinstripes, to keep up with us and the team all season long. Enjoy the game, I personally cannot wait until Chris Archer is no longer in Tampa Bay, and go Yankees!!

Game Preview: New York Yankees vs. Tampa Bay Rays 6/14

Good morning Yankees family and welcome back to Yankee Stadium, the sight for the next four games between the New York Yankees and the Tampa Bay Rays. In the first of a four-game weekend set here in the Bronx the Yankees will send Domingo German out to the mound to face off with Blake Snell for the Rays. Let’s get to it here in the Bronx.

German has still yet to lodge a victory this season despite pitching well in many of his starts here in 2018. German was especially good in his last start against the New York Mets where he allowed just three runs on six innings of work. German has never faced the Tampa Bay Rays

Snell has won each of his last four decisions which is good for the longest winning streak of his career, it is a shame that this streak has to come to an end tonight here in the Bronx. Over that span Snell has posted a 3-0 record with a 0.38 ERA.

Enjoy the game, welcome back to the lineup Gary… now get scary and go Yankees!!

ALCS Game 6 Thread: New York Yankees @ Houston Astros

Finally…. The Yankees….. are back…… in primetime. But seriously, those back-to-back 5:00 pm ET starts had to be brutal for most. I was just walking in the door by that time so it worked out for me but still, I know not everyone was so fortunate. Get it together MLB schedule makers, damn. Anyway before I get too off topic the New York Yankees enter Minute Maid Park tonight just one win away from the 2017 World Series, standing in their way are Justin Verlander and the Houston Astros. This should be an awesome, entertaining and fun matchup for all as Luis Severino takes the mound for the Yankees after an injury scare in Game 2. The game will be played at 8:00 pm ET inside Minute Maid Park in Houston and can be seen on FOX Sports One. You can also follow along in your cars and on the radio by tuning into either the WFAN broadcast with John Sterling and Suzyn Waldman or by tuning into ESPN Radio.

Follow us on twitter to interact with us during the game and keep up to date with us all season long by giving @GreedyStripes a follow. Enjoy the game, need a win so let’s punch this ticket and not worry about another game tomorrow, and get a win! Go Yankees!

Prediction: Yankees win 9-1… because no one is afraid of Justin Verlander.

ALCS Game 6 Preview: New York Yankees @ Houston Astros

So will the New York Yankees head to the World Series tonight or will there be a Game 7 in Houston tomorrow night? If I had a crystal ball and if I could tell the future things would be a whole lot different in my life right now but I digress. Before the series started I had the Yankees winning the series in six games and I had them specifically beating Houston because of their lack of a bullpen (check) and because the team has been historically good against Justin Verlander throughout his career. Are the stars aligning today for the self-proclaimed Yankees Wizard to notch another one in his predictive win column? Tune in tonight to find out. In the game tonight the Yankees will send Luis Severino to the mound looking to punch the Yankees ticket into the postseason while the Astros will counter with Justin Verlander. Let’s freaking do this!!!!

Severino was removed from his start in Game Two of this series for precautionary reasons. As the Yankees fan base and organization held their collective breath Severino threw a bullpen session on Wednesday and reported no issues. Severino looked sharp before being removed from his Game 2 start and will look to pick up where he left off tonight in Houston.

Verlander pitched a complete-game shutout in Game 2 of the series against the Yankees giving his Houston Astros a 2-0 lead in the series. That feels like ages ago for Houston who is now one loss away from playing golf for the remainder of the winter. If Verlander pitches like he did in Game Two though, zero runs allowed on five hits with 13 strikeouts, we may be seeing a Game 7 tomorrow night.

The game will be played at 8:00 pm ET inside Minute Maid Park in Houston and can be seen on Fox Sports One. Need a win, just one more win for a return to the World Series, so get that win. No Game 7, only champagne and a presumed trip to face the Los Angeles Dodgers. Go Yankees!

ALCS Game Five Thread: New York Yankees vs. Houston Astros

Is it commuting time? Or is it baseball time? The world may never know for sure but the Bronx is faced with that very question tonight as it is already game time between the New York Yankees and the Houston Astros. Game Five of the American League Championship Series, here we go. The New York Yankees will send Masahiro Tanaka to the mound tonight looking to put another “W” in the win column for the Yankees at home this postseason while the Astros have other plans with Dallas Keuchel back on a Yankee Stadium mound. The game will be played at 5:00 pm ET inside Yankee Stadium and can be seen on FOX Sports One.

Follow us on Twitter by following @GreedyStripes and enjoy the game. Need a win against a guy the team has never even scored against in the postseason, easy peazy so get a win. Go Yankees!

Prediction: Yankees win 4-1

ALCS Game Five Preview: New York Yankees vs. Houston Astros

The New York Yankees have been one of the best teams at home here in 2017 during not only the regular season but in the postseason as well. New York must protect its house one more time this evening as the Houston Astros and the Yankees play Game 5 of the American League Championship Series. Home field advantage has been a huge thing for most teams throughout this postseason and I have a feeling it will continue to be huge for especially the Yankees tonight in the Bronx as the team needs another win before heading back to Houston for Game 6, because there WILL be a Game 6. Write it down. The Yankees will send Masahiro Tanaka to the mound tonight looking to pitch as well or better than he did in Game One of the series while the Astros will counter with an old thorn in the Yankees side in Dallas Keuchel.

Tanaka matched Keuchel for much of their Game One matchup in this American League Championship series but it was not enough in a tough loss for New York. Tanaka has pitched marvelously in his last two playoff starts though which is a great sign for the New York Yankees going forward who need another great start tonight from him in the Bronx.

Keuchel pitched seven shutout innings in that Game One victory for Houston including ten strikeouts. Keuchel also shutout the Yankees for six innings in the 2015 AL Wild Card Game which means, and maybe this is just Optimistic Dan speaking here, that New York is due to run into a few and scratch a few runs across the board here tonight. I just hope they are enough for a victory.

The game will be played at 5:00 pm ET inside Yankee Stadium and can be seen on Fox Sports One. You can also follow along in your cars and on the radio, because come on guys… 5:00 in the afternoon on a Wednesday in the middle of a work week… what the hell were you thinking MLB schedule makers? by tuning into either WFAN with John Sterling and Suzyn Waldman or by tuning into ESPN Radio. Bold prediction time, if the Yankees win tonight against Keuchel the team will 100% win the series so need a win, shock the world and get a win. Go Yankees!

ALDS Game 5 Thread: New York Yankees @ Cleveland Indians

No games. No bull. Let’s get to this and let’s get it done tonight in Cleveland. The New York Yankees and the Cleveland Indians will play tonight in a winner-take-all Game 5 in the ALDS. Winner moves on to the ALCS to face off with the Houston Astros while the loser goes home licking their wounds and wondering what could have been. New York will send CC Sabathia to the mound tonight to face off with Corey Kluber for the Indians. The game will be played at 8:00 pm ET and can be seen on Fox Sports One. You can also follow along in your cars and on the radio by tuning into WFAN and ESPN Radio.

Follow us on Twitter and interact with us during the game by giving @GreedyStripes a follow. Need a win, omg is this a huge win so get a win. Go Yankees!

Prediction: Yankees win 4-3

ALDS Game 5 Preview: New York Yankees @ Cleveland Indians

And it all comes down to this tonight as the New York Yankees and the Cleveland Indians play in a do-or-die, winner takes all Game 5 of the American League Division series. Let me start by saying damn, what a series. The Indians won both of their games at home to start the series while the Yankees came roaring back in games three and four to even the series setting up this series finale inside Progressive Field in Cleveland tonight. In the start tonight the Yankees will send CC Sabathia to the mound, undoubtedly with a short leash with a rested bullpen and Sonny Gray available, to face off with the Indians ace and perennial Cy Young Award candidate Corey Kluber. The Yankees got to Kluber in Game Two but there is no guarantee that lightning will strike twice again here in Cleveland. I mean it could though, so you have to watch.

Sabathia will take the ball tonight for the Yankees instead of Sonny Gray after pitching well for New York in Game 2 of this series in Cleveland. Sabathia lasted 5.1 innings in that start in a no-decision which kept his career playoff record at 9-5 with a 4.47 ERA in 20 games, 19 starts.

Kluber was not sharp in that same Game Two matchup yielding six runs in just 2.2 innings. Thankfully for the Indians the Cleveland offense picked up Kluber and got the victory allowing the right-hander to make the start tonight in front of his home field fans.

The game will be played at 8:05 pm ET inside Progressive Field in Cleveland, Ohio and can be seen on Fox Sports One. You can also follow along in your cars and on the radio by tuning into either the WFAN broadcast with John Sterling and Suzyn Waldman or by tuning into ESPN radio. Need a win, get one more win and a free ticket to the ALCS. Go Yankees!!!

ALDS Game 1 Thread: New York Yankees @ Cleveland Indians

Ladies and gentleman it is game time once again in the 2017 postseason as the New York Yankees have made the trip out to Cleveland and Progressive Field to take on baseball’s best team in the Cleveland Indians. The pleasantries are over and the Yankees are presumably done asking former teammates like Andrew Miller and Nick Goody how they’ve been and now it’s time for baseball. In the opener of this best-of-five American League Division Series the New York Yankees will send Sonny Gray to the mound to face off with Trevor Bauer for the Indians. The game will be played at 7:30 pm ET inside Progressive Field and can be seen on FOX Sports One. You can also follow along in your cars and on the radio by tuning into either WFAN with John Sterling and Suzyn Waldman or you can also tune into ESPN Radio if you’re a glutton for punishment.

Follow us on Twitter to interact with us during the game, for the entire postseason, the offseason or whenever because we aren’t going anywhere and the rumors of our demise were a bit presumptuous and premature. We’re here as long as the Yankees are so need a win? Get a win! Then get two more. Go Yankees!!

Prediction: Yankees win 4-3

ALDS Game 1 Preview: New York Yankees @ Cleveland Indians

The New York Yankees rode their wave of emotions and momentum all the way to Cleveland after their roller coaster victory over the Minnesota Twins in the American League Wild Card Game. The postseason is a second season and the Wild Card Round is over, now it’s time to focus on the American League Division Series and the Cleveland Indians. The Indians were the best team in baseball in 2017 rattling off 22 straight wins at one point in the season but that plus $15 will get you a beer inside Progressive Field tonight. It means nothing and the Yankees need to play like that if they want a chance to steal Game One and steal home-field advantage in this series. The arm donned with that task tonight for New York is Sonny Gray while the Indians will counter with Trevor Bauer who is a bit of a surprise to start the game for Cleveland in my opinion. Is it a gift from Terry Francona and the Baseball Gods? Stay tuned tonight to find out.

Gray will get the ball in Game One of the ALDS for the New York Yankees after coming over in a trade from the Oakland Athletics on July 31st. This will be Gray's second time in the postseason after allowing three earned runs over two starts in his first trip to the postseason with Oakland.

Bauer had the best regular season of his young MLB career here in 2017 and will look to build on that here in the postseason for the Indians. Bauer finished the season with a career-high in wins with 17 and strikeouts with 196 K’s. Ten of those wins came at home where Bauer will pitch tonight.

The game will be played at 7:30 pm ET inside Progressive Field, home of the Cleveland Indians, and can be seen on FOX Sports One. Thank God it isn’t ESPN again, that was brutal on Tuesday night. Need three more wins, so get a win tonight. Go Yankees!!

Game Thread: New York Yankees vs. Boston Red Sox 8/12

Saturday afternoon baseball in the Bronx is one thing but Saturday afternoon baseball in the Bronx between the two biggest rivals in all of Major League Baseball is another and that is exactly what we are all in tune for this afternoon as the New York Yankees play host to the Boston Red Sox in the second game of their three-game weekend set. In the middle game of the series the Yankees will send their newly-found ace Luis Severino to the mound to face off with Drew Pomeranz for the Red Sox. The game will be played at 4:05 pm ET inside Yankee Stadium and can be seen on Fox Sports One and I believe MLB TV should also carry it, although I am not 100% on that. I am 100% certain though that you can follow along on the radio with WFAN regardless.

Follow us on Twitter by following @GreedyStripes and enjoy the game. Go Yankees!!! Rivalry Renewed.

Game Preview: New York Yankees vs. Boston Red Sox 8/12

The New York Yankees and the Boston Red Sox are back at it again today with the middle game of their three game set this weekend in the Bronx. This is going to be a very tough and challenging, but hopefully rewarding, week for New York as they face Boston this weekend, the Mets next week and the Red Sox again next weekend inside Fenway Park. This week will definitely be the week, either way, we as fans look back on at the end of the season and say that this was the turning point in 2017. We can’t worry about the end of the 2017 season just yet today as we have plenty of baseball still to go including today’s matchup that will include Luis Severino taking the mound for the Yankees and Drew Pomeranz taking the mound for the Boston Red Sox. Rivalry Renewed.

Severino has become the Yankees ace this season and looks to secure his fifth straight victory this afternoon in the Bronx. In his last four starts the Yankees right-hander has allowed just two earned runs over 25.2 innings pitched which is good for a 0.70 ERA. During that stretch Severino has struck out 32 and walked just seven batters.

Pomeranz dominated the Chicago White Sox last time out to the tune of one run allowed and eight strikeouts in 6.1 innings pitched. That start marked the eighth time in Pomeranz’s last ten starts that he went at least six innings. During that same span Pomeranz is pitching to a 2.24 ERA.

The game will be played at 4:05 pm ET inside Yankee Stadium and can be seen on Fox Sports One and MLB TV. You can also follow along in your cars and on the radio by tuning into the WFAN broadcast with John Sterling and Suzyn Waldman. Also as a reminder for tomorrow that the game is showcased on ESPN’s Sunday Night Baseball so get your naps in now, it could be a late one tomorrow. Oh, and it is Chris Sale tomorrow for the Red Sox so it could be a frustratingly late one tomorrow. Either way, go Yankees!

Game Thread: New York Yankees @ Kansas City Royals 5/18

It’s been a busy day here on the blog and we have been all over the place. Yankees international free agent signings, Yankees plucking pitchers out of the Frontier League, game previews, so it seems and now a game thread between the New York Yankees and the Kansas City Royals. In the contest the Yankees will send rookie left-hander Jordan Montgomery to the mound to square off with fellow lefty Danny Duffy for the Royals. The game will be played at 8:15 pm ET inside Kauffman Stadium and can be seen on FOX Sports One and MLB TV. You can also follow along in your cars and on the radio by tuning into the WFAN broadcast.

Game Thread: New York Yankees @ Cincinnati Reds 5/9

Here we go ladies and gentleman, it is game time in Cincinnati as the Cincinnati Reds play host to the New York Yankees in the second and final game of this quick two-game interleague series. Last night was Masahiro Tanaka’s turn to take the ball for the Yankees and tonight it is CC Sabathia’s turn who is looking to turn around a recent rough string of starts. The man looking to keep the Yankees offense in check, and good luck with that lately, is Tim Adleman for the Reds. The game will be played at 7:10 pm ET inside the Great American Ball Park and can be seen on FOX Sports One. You can also follow along on the radio if you’re blacked out on WFAN.

Interact with us all season long by giving us a follow on Twitter. Our Twitter account is @GreedyStripes.

Go Yankees!

Game Preview: New York Yankees @ Cincinnati Reds 5/9

And just like that the series between the New York Yankees and the Cincinnati Reds is over. Well, it will be over tonight anyway as these two teams complete their quick two-game interleague series tonight inside the Great American Ball Park. Stand up for the Judge and release the Kraken because the ball should be flying out of Cincinnati tonight if the opposing offenses have anything to say about it. There are two men donned with the task of keeping the ball in the ballpark and they are CC Sabathia for the Yankees and Tim Adleman for the Reds.

Sabathia has been absolutely horrible in his last three starts which is beginning to cause concern here in the Bronx. After a great start to the season Sabathia has posted a 10.43 ERA in his last three starts lasting just 14.2 innings while allowing 17 earned runs on five home runs. How about more of the early season Sabathia and less of this guy.

Adleman last faced the Pittsburgh Pirates allowing two runs in six innings of work which resulted in a 4-2 victory for the Reds. Adleman is especially tough against left-handed bats while right-handers are hitting over .300 against him this season so don’t expect Aaron Judge or Gary Sanchez to see much to hit tonight because if they get a good pitch to hit it’s going to go a long way out in Cincinnati.

The game will be played at 7:10 pm ET inside the Great American Ball Park and can be seen on Fox Sports One. I’m, again, not sure how the Fox and their affiliates broadcast affects MLB TV so you will just have to check in at game time. If anyone knows beforehand please let me know and I’ll update the post. If it is blacked out you can always follow along on the radio with John Sterling and Suzyn Waldman on the WFAN broadcast.

Go Yankees!

Game Thread: New York Yankees @ Baltimore Orioles 4/8

Ladies and gentleman it is finally game time as the New York Yankees have made the trip back to Oriole Park and Camden Yards to take on the Baltimore Orioles in the second of a three game weekend set. In this middle game of the three game series the New York Yankees will send Masahiro Tanaka to the mound, Happy Tanaka Day everybody, to square off against Kevin Gausman for the Baltimore Orioles. The game will be played at 4:05 pm ET and can be seen on the YES Network, Fox Sports One and MLB TV. You can also follow along on the radio locally on WFAN.

Quick Hit: Alex Rodriguez to Expand Role as FOX Analyst

Alex Rodriguez’s days as a player are officially over, although next time he sneezes or goes to a sports store there will be some dumb ass blog or news publication out there “wondering” if it’s because he is gearing up for a comeback, but his days as a FOX Sports analyst are just beginning. According to a few reports Alex is getting his role with the network expanded in fact which may further confirm that his playing days are over.

After spending each of the past two postseasons as a guest studio analysts for FOX the former Yankees third baseman and DH will now be a game analyst and feature reporter for both FOX Sports and FS1 while also working in the studio as he did before.

Alex signed a multi-year deal with the network but none of the terms were obviously disclosed.

MLB Postseason Schedule for 10/23: Game 7?

Will there be a Game 7 in the National League Championship Series? Will the Cubs have already punched their ticket to the World Series or will the Dodgers live to fight another day? At the time of this writing that is still undetermined so just in case here is the Game 7 schedule for the NLCS.

Los Angeles Dodgers @ Chicago Cubs (Game 7 if necessary) @ 8:08 pm ET on Fox Sports One
