Keith Law Ranks Five Yankees In Top 110 Prospects

Keith Law ranked his Major League farm systems and now has followed up releasing his Top 110 prospects in all of baseball and it included five New York Yankees. Gary Sanchez comes in at #18, Mason Williams comes in at #35, Tyler Austin comes in at #52, Slade Heathcott comes in at #57, and Jose A. Ramirez was listed just outside the top 100.

To give you a little bit of an idea where our prospects rank across the league Gary Sanchez, again #18, is only behind the Mets Travis D'Arnaud at #14 and Mike Zunino at #15 for catchers. Gary is three years younger then D'Arnaud and one year younger then Zunino and is at a lower level then both. Mason Williams, again #35,  is ahead of the Red Sox Jackier Bradley Jr. at #40 and the Cubs Cuban import Jorge Soler at #42 and is only five spots behind the Reds Billy Hamilton. Tyler Austin is ranked higher then highly touted Padres Rymer Liriano at #54 and the Pirated Gregorio Polanco at #55. Heathcott is ranked at #57 but is a year younger then any of them.

Great signs coming out of the Yankees farm these days even if it is a little top heavy.

Former Yankee Jesus Montero Linked To Biogenesis

The story that will just not go away continues to breathe life as today we learned that former Yankees super prospect Jesus Montero, now the Seattle Mariners starting catcher, is also on the PED list linked to the Miami clinic Biogenesis run by Anthony Bosch. Montero will undoubtedly decline a comment or deny any wrong doing but it is worth noting that he is a Sam and Seth Levinson client. Sam and Seth Levinson also work for notable major leaguers like Nelson Cruz, Gio Gonzalez, and Melky Cabrera who have all been linked to PED's and Biogenesis.

Meet A Prospect : Rafael DePaula

Rafael DePaula may be the best pitching prospect in the entire Yankees system if you consider just his raw mechanics and "stuff" and exclude all those years spent trying to obtain a visa to come to the United States. DePaula has a pitchers dream frame standing 6'2" tall and weighing in at 212 lbs so he is very project-able and looks like he can be very durable while throwing heat for the foreseeable future hitting 92-94 mph on the gun but can hit 97 mph.

Rafael DePaula will be entering his age 23 season when he starts the 2013 season in the Dominican Summer League for the Yankees. DePaula sits comfortably at 92-95 mph with his fastball but can dial it up to as fast as 97 mph when he feels it necessary. He has the secondary pitches to go with it to make him a successful major leaguer including a curveball, a slider, and a change up that are all considered raw but plus. He is going to move fast through the Yankees system in my opinion because his stuff is just too good to hold him back. I expect him to be stateside by the end of the 2013 season.

ETA: Late 2014 to Mid 2015
