New York Yankees @ Seattle Mariners 6/7

The third game of a four-game set with the Mariners begins today at 4:10pm EST. The Yankees took game 1 of the series 6-1, but lost last night by a score of 4-1. They hope to get back on the winning track by sending Andy Pettitte to the hill, as the Mariners counter with Joe Saunders.

Saunders has a 5.20 ERA so far this season, but pitched well against the White Sox his last time out. Meanwhile, Pettitte has a 4.17 ERA this season, and is coming off a poor start against the Indians in which he gave up 4 runs off of 7 hits in only 4.2 innings.

With Felix Hernandez starting for Seattle tomorrow, it's important for the Bombers to win this one if they want to take the series.

Day Three of the MLB Draft

Day three of the draft, which includes rounds 11 through 40, begins at 1:00pm EST today. The Yankees have had a pretty good draft so far, but there's a long way to go. I mentioned in a previous article that five players that were on last year's American League All Star team were drafted after the 10th round, so now's not the time to take a rest.

You can either follow Day 3 of the draft at MLB.com, or by watching it on MLB Network.

Game 62 Lineup: Yankees @ Mariners

Well the Yankees had one bad inning and the bats were frozen solid. Hopefully they thawed them for tonight and they're red hot. Here's the lineup!

Brett Gardner CF
Jayson Nix SS
Mark Teixeira DH
Robinson Cano 2B
Vernon Wells LF
Kevin Youkilis 1B
Ichiro Suzuki RF
David Adams 3B
Chris Stewart C

Baseball Draft Cards Willie Randolph

Day three of the draft is pretty uneventful and filled with guys that we will never hear from again, not that we ever heard of them to begin with. Willie Randolph is one half of Yankees representatives at this years draft so he will be the final share of my personal baseball card collection for the draft. Enjoy!

Morning Bits

Good morning everyone!

Hiroki Kuroda had one very bad inning and the Yankee bats were ice cold as they fell to the Mariners last night by a score of 4-1.

Robinson Cano, Mark Teixeira, Travis Hafner, and Vernon Wells were a combined 0-15 last night.

Preston Claiborne pitched yet another score less 1 2/3 innings to lower his season ERA to 0.49.

Today's game in Seattle begins at 4:10 ET and will be televised on YES.  Andy Pettitte(4-3, 4.17 ERA) will battle do with Joe Saunders(4-5, 5.20 ERA).

Now on to today's news and links:

Andrew Marchand of ESPNNY.com has this story about the comments made by Yankees first round draft pick Ian Clarkin.

Mark Feinsand of the New York Daily News has this article about Michael Pineda making a start for the Tampa Yankees and Mark Teixeira feeling confident that his wrist is not an issue.

Mike Mazzeo of ESPNNY.com notes that the Yankees drafted former Yankee star Paul O'Neill's nephew.

Have a great day everyone!

This Day In Yankees History 6/8

On this day in 1927 Yankees Tony Lazzeri becomes the first Yankee to hit three home runs in one game. The Yankees would beat the Chicago White Sox 12-11 in 11 innings on this day behind the offensive outburst.

On this day in 1969 the Yankees retired jersey number 7 and called the day Mickey Mantle day in honor of their All Star outfielder.
