Baseball America's Top 10 Yankees Prospects

Josh Norris of Baseball America and Trenton Thunder beat writer posted on twitter (@jnorris427) Baseball America's top 10 Yankees prospects a little early. Here is the list which will not be officially released for a couple more days.

1. Mason Williams - High A Tampa
2. Slade Heathcott - High A Tampa
3. Gary Sanchez - High A Tampa
4. Tyler Austin - AA Trenton
5. Jose Campos - Low A Charleston
6. Brett Marshall - AA Trenton
7. Angelo Gumbs - Low A Charleston
8. Manny Banuelos - AAA Scranton Wilkes-Barre
9. Ty Hensley - GCL Yankees
10. Rafael DePaula - Dominican Summer League

Austin Romine, Dante Bichette Jr, Ravel Santana, Dellin Betances, and JR Murphy all fell off the list from last  year. Slade Heathcott not only jumping as high as 2nd but over Tyler Austin was a bit of a shock and a bit of a stretch in my book but I guess Baseball America would know better then I would. No Mark Montgomery or really any of our closer prospects like Corban Joseph, David Adams, Melky Mesa, etc are also a bit of a head scratcher in my book but oh well, no huge snubs. The official list will be posted this Friday, November 9th so look out for that.

Kuroda Narrows Decision Between Yankees & Japan

Hiroki Kuroda has expressed his willingness to pitch on a one year contract in 2013 because he wants to leave his options open about returning to Japan before he retires. Kuroda has also expressed an interest in pitching at least one more season for Hiroshima Carp in the Japanese League. This eliminates the Dodgers essentially as competition for the Yankees but now Kuroda has expressed that he will either be a Carp or a Yankee in 2013. The money will definitely come from New York if that has any bearing on the decision but Kuroda's heart seems to be in Japan so we will just have to watch and see.
