So Much Talent Being Wasted In Scranton

The Yankees offense continues to struggle while there is so much talent just being wasted in Triple-A right now. The Scranton Wilkes Barre RailRiders offense may be better than the big league club's offense right now. I continue to beat the drum and I continue to ask the question, why are these guys still sitting in the minor leagues while guys like Ichiro Suzuki and Stephen Drew continue to make outs in the Bronx?

  2. I can only take a guess but, I am sure (Almost) he is waiting for the call-ups time...in a few days! Unlike some of you fans I have the patience of Job...Now, dat dar, it be a big whooper!
If he calls them up before then he has to put them on the 40 man and 25 man roster...which, in turn starts their clock for free agency.

  3. I doubt he would get enough playing time to be a super two if he were to be called up today but Cashman probably wont bring him up until June next year to delay a year of service time. Because we need to penny pinch.

  4. It's not just talent being wasted in aaa. It's talent being blocked in the lower levels by the talent that's being wasted in aaa. All because they feel the need to hold onto under performing veterans.

  5. If they are ready in AAA and not being challenged then it's wasted. Jesus Montero was brought along slow, got bored, and it showed. Look at him now.

    1. Same thing could be said about Romine. It'll happen to Murphy and Roller as well. It's funny that veterans always want to come to New York for a chance at a ring, but I'll bet the prospects can't wait to get traded.

    2. Yes I truly believe that happened to Romine as well, forgot about him. It will happen to Pirela too, he has seemingly been in the minors forever.

  6. Than there's the thorny Thornton throw away and the marvelous southpaws in the minors to replace him, but only God knows when. Lindgren can't pitch any better, Banuelos is now, overdue and the Mitchell ritual of up and sent back down without a game pitch thrown. Hey, I guarantee you this lack of mind has cost the Yankees a couple games alone since the Thornton trade. Unchecked, it will be the reason to miss the playoffs while rocking development. But we have the 40 & 38 year olds.

  7. Oh, how about that Hill, Whitley, Ichiro & Ryan. Gotta love that Drew.

    1. Whitley was over the limits of his work (pitch count) and plum wore out!

  8. You replace this core of five with five young demons from below and reenergize the team completely, step back and watch as they develop and properly take off real hard.

  9. Come September, you inject it some more, resting the older.

  10. The core four wasn't enough, we need a jive five.

  11. We already have Greene, Betances and Warren. I won't even include Garner or Robertson, bring me the jive five. One should be at the catching position, with either JR Murphy and/or Sanchez, as very quietly Torrens has snuck into the 10th position talent wise. You know catching will rock in a jive five, practically on its own. Austin, Zoilo and here comes the Judge in the OF. Severino bingo. Pirela & Refsnyder. It may be more than just a jive five, if only given time to rock.

  13. Made a mistake in a name....this is the comment now!
I can see Refsnyder, Pirela, Severino, Lindgren making the team next year. I would also like to see Abiatal Avelino/Jorge Mateo get a fair shot at SS, both are young but...!
Lefty's out of the Bull Pen; Tyler Webb and Bauelos. Unless Cisco is traded, which he may be, or McCann traded (unlikely) JR and Romine are down on the Farm again.
Some will make it, and others will wilt, hoping for next year.

  14. I really like the Jive Five. Don't think it will happen but that's a catchy name.

  15. Yankees charging hard to sign Cuban defector, Castillo; to play second base towards the final month. Red Sox & Detroit in also, but for the outfield. The position will be crucial and the Yanks better let him know an OF position can also be, if that's what he wants.

    1. I would love to see Castillo in the Bronx for the immediate future. You can easily designate Stephen Drew for assignment and not miss a beat defensively and get a huge boost offensively.

      What are we waiting for?

    1. Hell Daniel, one can dream, can't one? Myself, I'll take Jessica Alba(Sp)!

  17. Alba wasn't on the TV show Seventh Heaven (hence the joke) but hell I'd take Alba too
