Yankees Trade Brian McCann to Houston

The New York Yankees are not done trading away high-priced veterans for prospects this offseason as the team has sent their catcher Brian McCann to the Houston Astros for a pair of right-handed pitching prospects. Houston will send Albert Abreu and Jorge Guzman to the Yankees in return for McCann along with $5.5 million in salary in both 2017 and 2018.

Abreu and Guzman were the Astros 5th and 8th best pitching prospects at the time of the trade. More to come as we get it.

  1. I SALUTE....Brian McCann. A solid player, and a tough guy.
The trade to Houston, will benefit McCann in the long run.

We all knew this was coming. A true salary dump, with a plus.

The two pitchers coming back are young, 20-21, and can each
reach 100 mph. I like this move.

Even though the team ate $5 mil of McCann's $17 mil per, the money
saved can now be used for a true power bat. Beltran ?

All said....is Gardner next? Most likely.

    1. Gardner needs to go. I'll drive him to the airport. Again I wish the elf would've gotten a pitcher in return that can help us this year instead of more suspects

    2. FEAR NOT....Hansel.

I believe that Gardner will be gone....in a big package.
Of...high end surplus, the likes of Mateo, Judge, etc.
      For that expensive young talented....pitcher.

      Keep the faith my brother.

    3. I hope you're right Patrick. I'm tired of a speedster that stole 16 bases is a career 261 hitter. Judge is also expendable in my eyes. The long looping swing doesn't play well. I'm just tired of all the A level pitching prospects we receive in return. Could one be triple A or major league ready? The elf and the binder need to go if they don't make the playoffs.

    4. The trick is getting that pitcher who will be a top of the rotation starter when the Yankees are contenders again. There are few pitchers that remain at that level for several years, just look at the stats. And that doesn't include pitchers that are even available, and/or wouldn't cost so much that it doesn't make sense anyway.
