This Day in New York Yankees History 10/21: 4:51 World Series Game

On this day in 2000 the Yankees would beat the Mets in the longest World Series game ever played. The Yankees would beat the Mets 4-3 in a four hour and 51 minute game that went 12 innings. This also keeps the streak alive at 13 consecutive World Series games with a victory.

Also on this day in 1998 the Yankees completed a four game sweep of the San Diego Padres by winning 3-0. The Yankees would win their 24th World Series title in their storied history and the 125th win of the season with the regular and post season’s combined.

Finally on this day in 1976, older Yankees fan turn your heads here because you are not going to like this, the Yankees lost their fourth consecutive game getting swept in the World Series. The "Big Red Machine" proved to be too much for the Yankees team. The Reds would win 7-2 behind a two run home run and a three run home run from Johnny Bench.

  1. Hicks like the regular season started off fast in the playoffs but cooled off. When he was playing as a reserve he did great but when forced to starting after Ells got hurt he quit hitting and then he got hurt.
Hicks when used as a 4th outfielder and not everyday starter he excelled.
When Ells finally shook off the cobwebs from his concussion after rushing back early he hit in September as an outfielder.( He does not hit well career wise as a DH)he excelled.
Then when Hicks made the catch in CF( was a great catch) decided to use him everyday which resulted lack of hitting ( just like regular season).
Time for Girardi to open that binder and look at the information that is in it.
I still have doubts he wants to win the World Series. Quick hooks when he shouldn't and failure to remove when all indications and results say he should.
Also Judge struggles with pressure on the road , maybe just flipping him with Castro would help or Bird and move Headley into the 2 hole , Gardy,Headley,Bird,Sanchez,Didi, Judge, Castro,Frazier and Ells for tonight.
He is either playing these blunders in to a contract or he does not want to win.
    Hoping Yankees win game 7.
    Lets go Yankees

    1. Hicks is ok, everyone goes into a funk every so often...and it could be I am wrong!

Judge, is different story I will not pass judgement on he nor Sanchez as it looks like they have trouble reading the pitch. Hopefully, next year will see them improve on that.
