This Day In Yankees History 5/25

On this day in 1922 Babe Ruth was thrown out trying to stretch a single into a double and proceeded to throw dirt into an umpires eye. Unhappy Babe went into the crowd after a heckler and was seen standing on the dug out calling the fans in attendance yellow cowards. This tirade would cost Babe Ruth his captain title which he held for less than a week. Ruth would also receive a one game suspension and a $200 fine both which are laughable when you consider what would happen if an incident like this happened in today's game.

On this day in 2011 Mariano Rivera becomes the first pitcher to ever appear in 1,000 games for the same team in his career.
