Morning Bits

Good morning everyone!

The Yankees had a day off yesterday and sit two games  in back of the Red Sox in the AL East as they begin a three game series today in Oakland against the A's.

C.C. Sabathia(6-4, 3.74 ERA) will face Bartolo Colon(7-2, 3.14 ERA) tonight.  Start time is 10:05 ET and it will be televised on YES.

Now on to today's news and links:

Andrew Marchand breaks down Derek Jeter's progress as he works his way back on to the field after his injuries.

Zack Meisel of MLB.com has this article about Brett Gardner being named AL Offensive Player Of The Week.

NESN reports that the Yankees had a picture hanging in their war room on draft day to remind them of what type of mental makeup they were looking for in a player.

Have a great day everyone!

  1. Has anyone been paying attention to this Claiborne kid?
He shows me a lot of good things with his pitching and instincts for his position. He always seems to know what he is doing and never gets flustered.
To-night with a ball hit to 1st he got over to first so fast, Tex only took two steps and tossed the ball to the kid at first for the out.
Just a little thing but, for some, that is a weakness that the other team takes advantage of at times.

The good parts of ones' game take care of themselves, with hard work! I always look for a weakness in any and everything. Believe me when I say, it is almost like cheating to take advantage of someone like that. :)

  2. old yankee, Claiborne has been amazing, it just goes to show you that when it comes to relief pitching you don't have to be a big prospect. Now as for the regulars not so much.
