This Day In New York Yankees History 8/4

Not great Yankees history that we want to remember anyway but I felt compelled to share this day in 1929 anyway as the Yankees and the Indians faced off. The Yankees were leading 6-5 and the Indians were down to their 27th out and proceeded to put up a nine spot with two outs winning the game 14-6.

On this day in 1983 Dave Winfield killed a seagull with a warm up throw before the fifth inning in an exhibition game and was arrested for animal cruelty. The Ontario police took Winfield into custody as soon as the game ended. Lesson #1 do not kill birds in Canada.

On this day in 2007 Alex Rodriguez became the youngest player to ever hit 500 home runs. Alex would join Mickey Mantle as the only other player to hit their 500th home run in the Bronx.

On this day in 2010 Alex Rodriguez became the youngest player to ever hit 600 home runs. Alex passed Babe Ruth for the youngest to achieve the miraculous feat. Alex is only the seventh player to ever join the 600 home run club.
