Preview: New York Yankees vs. Tampa Bay Rays 5/3

The New York Yankees will host the Tampa Bay Rays for the second of a three game set at Yankee Stadium this afternoon after playing last night. The Yankees will send Masahiro Tanaka to the mound to face off with Jake Odorizzi for the Rays. The game will be played at 1:05 pm ET and can be seen on the YES Network, MLB TV, and can be heard on the radio with WFAN.

Tanaka is the real deal and showed it once again in a no decision against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim last time out for the Yanks. Tanaka pitched 6.1 IP and gave up two runs, five hits, 11 strike outs, and four walks in a Yankees victory. Tanaka has had three double digit strikeout games in his first five seasons in the major leagues and has 46 total in 35.2 IP this season.

Odorizzi has allowed 18 earned runs and 28 hits in his last 17.2 IP and could be the exact recipe the Yankees offense needs to break out of this little mini slump. Odorizzi also has 22 strike outs and 12 walks this season. This is one of those games where it will be really fun to watch as a Yankee fan or really, REALLY frustrating to watch as we turn Odorizzi into Cy Young reincarnate.

Go Yankees!!
